I know I'm probably out of line, especially after dissing Head East this morning, but what is the attraction of hearing this track over the original ABB, or even the excellent live version from the Gregg Allman Band?

I know I'm probably out of line, especially after dissing Head East this morning, but what is the attraction of hearing this track over the original ABB, or even the excellent live version from the Gregg Allman Band?

This one is quite a bit more retaliatory, wheras the original is closer to being suicidal (but an awesome blues song nevertheless).  Duane is playing well within himself on the original, whereas Molly Hatchet unleash 3 consecutive guitar solos in the best tradition of 70's arena rock (& the first two kick some butt).

I've never heard the Gregg band live version, but you'll have to turn me on to it sometime.

Alas, my Gregg Allman live album is vinyl.  Someday I'm going to get the right cables to hang out of the front of my living room stereo so I can digitize me some vinyl.

The think I don't like about the Molly Hatchet version is that it's lacking the very thing that makes the original for me: the fluidity, the ethereal jazziness.  I realize we all see and hear things from our own perspectives, but that's the deal for me.
