Title: CG/KPOO/'LNG week of Dec 26th
Post by: RGMike on December 27, 2005, 12:27:59 PM
Ok, Xmas is over.  CG plays early Bobby Goldsboro, "Little Things", which always struck me as Johnny Rivers imitation (but one of Mr Goldsboro's best [read: least smarmy] efforts).

one of Dean's listeners requests Edwyn Collins' "Girl Like You".  Too many protest singers, not enough protest songs...

This and "Woman in Love" are the only Barbra songs I shall ever need.

Glad you got to hear the Shannon track.  TANC - I heard that (as well as Sheila E's "A Love Bizarre," for the first time in over a decade) at last night's "Runt" party at Nowhere (a weekly party staged by Stephin Merritt for short gay men and their admirers).

OK, I'll bite...

How does Mr Merritt define "short"?  Are we talking people with dwarf fetishes?  under 5'10"? under 5'8"? I have often joked that there are fetish sites for every body type but mine  -- if I were grossly fat I'd have chubby chasers all over my ass, but why isn't there a shortstockyguyswithgoatees.com?

Gee, and here I am at first read thinking that it was a Todd Rundgren appreciation night. <g>

5'7" is the benchmark.  Everyone's welcome, though.  I haven't seen any dwarfs there, but it was surreal to see a 5'3" go-go dancer a few weeks ago.

a Live Hall & Oates concert on CG. Doing their cover of "I Can Dream About You" -- per Daryl, Dan Hartman wrote it for them, the timing wasn't right (they'd just put a new album to bed), so Hartman did it himself for the Streets of Fire soundtrack.

WLNG Nugget o' the Day: Dorothy Moore, "Misty Blue". Listen to me good, baby...
Title: WLNG
Post by: ggould on December 30, 2005, 05:03:10 PM
right after hearing "Poetry in Motion" (see my mondegreen post) they play ABBA "Knowing Me, Knowing You!"  A segue sick enough for someone like me!
Title: WLNG at night

got my old iBook hooked into the stereo, listening to WLNG.  Some sort of odd old show on now.  Not bad with all the rain outside.  Real corny time warp.  "The Music of the American Song Book" is what's on.
