BOS5 the Stylistics doing Bacharach.

BOS6 the Divine Miss M!

'73, Hour 1: JB shouts out for Fred! FRED!  Jeannie Pruett sleeps on "Satin Sheets" but she ain't happy.

The "insurmountable" (!) Dells get a hand. Sweet got little willys -- heh.

I liked that reader submitted question: When did the charts feature the most consecutive different weekly number one hits? and how many were there?

in late 64 there were six different number ones in six weeks, Supremes (two diff songs),  Shangri-Las, Lorne Greene (!) Bobby Vinton, and The Beatles were all swapping spots.

November 21    "Baby Love"    The Supremes
November 28    "Leader of the Pack"    The Shangri-Las
December 5    "Ringo"    Lorne Greene
December 12    "Mr. Lonely"    Bobby Vinton
December 19    "Come See About Me"    The Supremes
December 26    "I Feel Fine"    The Beatles

that record would be broken the following year with 7 diff #1s  --and again in '75 with 14!!

wow, I had to look those up:

1974:
October 12    "I Honestly Love You"    Olivia Newton-John
October 19    "Nothing From Nothing"    Billy Preston
October 26    "Then Came You"    Dionne Warwick and Spinners
November 2    "You Haven't Done Nothin'"    Stevie Wonder
November 9    "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet"    Bachman-Turner Overdrive
November 16    "Whatever Gets You thru the Night"    John Lennon
November 23    "I Can Help"    Billy Swan

1975:
January 11    "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"    Elton John
January 18    "Mandy"    Barry Manilow
January 25    "Please Mr. Postman"    The Carpenters
February 1    "Laughter in the Rain"    Neil Sedaka
February 8    "Fire"    Ohio Players
February 15    "You're No Good"    Linda Ronstadt
February 22    "Pick Up the Pieces"    The Average White Band
March 1    "Best of My Love"    Eagles
March 8    "Have You Never Been Mellow"    Olivia Newton-John
March 15    "Black Water"    The Doobie Brothers
March 22    "My Eyes Adored You"    Frankie Valli
March 29    "Lady Marmalade"    LaBelle
April 5    "Lovin' You"    Minnie Riperton
April 12    "Philadelphia Freedom"    Elton John Band

Been too busy to post in either forum about this 1987 chart but I surely haven't heard Billy Idol's "Sweet Sixteen" in a while.

Meanwhile Company B is fascinated by my "love toy". *blushes*

10cc's "People in Love" is a nice start. Commode Doors take it "Easy".

LNs: Boston have "Peace of Mind" and CBB couldn't get it up right.

BOS1 the Carpenters' forgotten "All You Get From Love is a Love Song". 1977 was not kind to them, chart-wise.

VHM ED&JFC, "Sad to Belong"

BOS2 the Bay City Rollers' delightful "You Made Me Believe in Magic"

awwww... Leo Sayer needs you.

BOS3 Waylon in Lukenbach.

BOS4 Ms Reddy with her stunning (really) cover of Cilla Black's "You're My World" -- produced by none other than Kim Fowley!

BOS5 Joe Tex, bumpin'.

BOS6 Alice Cooper's lovely "You & Me"; VHM Maynard Ferguson with the *other* version of "Rocky"s theme

Hour 2 leads off with an uber-BOS7 for one of my all-time faves, Dean Friedman's "Ariel" (butchered 45 version notwithstanding).

EEEK: Pablo Snooze.

Kenny Nowwan, "Wuv's Gwown Deep"

as noted the other day: Frampton with the sheep-herder's love song, "I'm in Ewe"

BOS8 Peter McCann's great "Do You Wanna Make Love?"; BOS9 Babs.

BOS10 Barry M.

Nooooooooooooo!! "Margaritaville".

Sheesh: they actually censored the "goddamn" in "Life in the Fast lane". And of course it was followed by Steve Miller's "funky kicks" version of "Jet Airliner"

BOS11 "Angel in Your Arms"; BOS12 "Lucille"

Casey's 1980 chart begins with his usual top-3 recap. The biggest part of me is coming up like a flower, so let's go to funkytown, baby!

VHM Blondie's "Atomic"; BOS1 Rodney Crowell's wonderful "Ashes By Now".

OMFG: BOS2 the Chairman himself, "NY NY".

VHM Rupert Holmes' "Answering Machine"

Hour 2: WOS the Blooze Bruddahs awful cover of "Gimme Some Lovin'"

eek: I never thought I'd hear Air Supply on AT40 *and* 10@10 in the same week.

BOS2 Ms Ronstadt -- we joke about her "screaming" but at the end of "Hurt So Bad" ("NO! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!") it's quite effective.

uber-WOS2 Charlie Daniels' load of jingoistic claptrap, "In America"

Hour 3: what better birthday present for a JAP than singing on your closeted daddy's hit record? WOS3 Wacky Sedacky and his talentless little girl.

uber-BOS3 Rocky Burnette's still-fab "Tired of Toein' the Line"

BOS4 Ms King's delightful remake of her own "One Fine Day".

This week Casey's "the '70s" affiliates get to shoose between 2 specials. The Top 40 Songs of the Rock Era (which aired in 1972)

http://www.oldradioshows.com/at40/070272.html

and the Top 40 Songs of the Disco Era (circa 1979)

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/07-07-79.pdf

Not clear which one our Canadian friends will air... Or Madison, WI either.

Casey's '80s visits July 3rd 1982:

Madison's Magic 98 will be running the Disco show, I'm happy to say -- that will be fun. (Sat nite 7-10 Pacific time)

CKRU is also playing the Disco special -- and we're starting with #30, "Dazz".

Trammps burn the mutha down!

Amazingly (per Casey) only TWO of these songs are remakes: "Knock On Wood" and "MacArthur Park".

BOS Andrea True -- Best Top Ten Single by a Porn Star.

Casey's '80s visits July 3rd 1982:

http://www.oldradioshows.com/at40/070382.html

Unexpected BOS1: J Geils' "Angel in Blue" which I haven't heard in ages.

WOS1 "Hooked on Swing" -- clap tracks should've been banned at this point.

VHM VH's version of "Dancing in the Street" - beats Bowie/Jagger, certainly.

Holy crap: haven't heard Blondie's "Island of Lost Souls" since it charted. Better than I remembered, but still this LP was quite a flop for them.

Haven't heard this Huey tune ("Hope Ya Love Me Like Ya Say Ya Do") in a dog's age, either. Ditto Neil Diamond's "Be Mine Tonite". It's an obscurity-fest this morning! And I'm diggin' it.

WOS2: Heart; WOS3: The Goat's glitter begins to fade.

Hour 2 begins with BOS2: Gap Band, "Early in the Morning". VHM live Stones, goin' ga-ga for Go-Go.

CSN get "Wasted".

BOS3 Queen's little-heard "Body Language"

eeek: WOS4 Air Supply; WOS5 Foreigner.

BOS4 Karla Bonoff "Personally"

WOS6 Journey. VHM Patrice Rushen.

and July 14th 1979

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/07-14-79.pdf

(no word yet on what our usual listening posts will be featuring.)

And Casey's '80s is from July 19th 1986:

A Gaz HFH to start: bagpipe "Amazing Grace", followed by one of my all-time HFHs: the godawful "Motorcycle Mama"

uber-BOS1 Joey Heatherton's "Gone"

melodically, Stevie's "Superwoman" is lovely -- it's the anti-women's lib lyric that's cringe-worthy.
