Boy, Mike. If you were on other message boards, they'd probably tell you to consolidate your posts into one. Then again, you are the moderator for this section of the board.  ;)

VHM Tierra's lovely, forgotten cover of the Intruders' "Together", baby.

There were a LOT of NTMs in this set, including this.  Quite nice.  Is the whole song a cover, or just that snippet of "Cowboys to Girls"?

"Together" was a mid-sized pop hit (and Top Ten R&B) for the Intruders.

This week Casey's '70s hits March 8, 1975.

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/03-08-75.pdf

George McCrae gets "Lifted", Ms Reddy shows some "Emotion", and -- yay! -- "Sad Sweet Dreamer" makes an appearance.

and the '80s version is from March 9, 1985

http://www.oldradioshows.com/at40/030985.html

Diana is "Missing" Marvin (and so are the Commodores), Bruce is "On Fire" and Ashford & Simpson are "Solid", Jackson! And speaking of Jackson... "We Are the World" was probably "bubbling under".

We are the World hasn't charted yet. It will debut in the Hot 100 at #20 two weeks later.

I'm weirdly hoping to hit 1971 soon for the three different charting versions of "Love Story."

Seems like only yesterday that we heard that chart and discussed that fact here -- time is flying by, my friend.

I hadn't heard Ben E. King's "Supernatural Thing" in years.  I'm guessing it was offered to Eddie Kendricks first; if so, he shouldn't have passed it up.

George McCrae spends his final-ever week in the 40 with "I Get Lifted," NTM and quite danceable.

So distressed!  Mike's WOS of WOSes, Hot Choc's "Emma"!

Hot August Night was, as of March 1975, the best-selling album in Australian history.  Who knew?

Wow, WOS to "Harry Truman."  What an awful novelty.

But Helen Reddy's "Emotion" is quite nice; I wish it hadn't been left off the HR comp I bought years ago.

WOS2 to Ringo in Nash-ville-o.  Gawd this song gets on my last nerve.

BOS to Oh Carole's lovely but forgotten "Nightingale," sadly her last visit to the Top 10.

Do y'know the  history of the song?  I'm planning on doing a thing on FB next week; have clips bookmarked on my work PC. A French woman named Veronique Sanson recorded a song called "Amoureuse" in '72, about a woman who's just lost her virginity. Kiki Dee hit the UK Top 20 with a fairly literal English translation in '73. Sanson herself recorded the English version and it was a "turntable hit" on NYC prog-FM in '74 (and immediatey became one of my favorite shoulda-beens). Meanwhile, an American woman named Patti Dahlstrom wrote a new and different set of English lyrics and called it "Emotion" -- she was a friend of Paul Williams who of course had a major connection to Helen Reddy and the song got to Helen who recorded it.  When it popped up in the Top 40 in '75 I was stunned, since I recognized the melody but not the lyrics.

Radio Time changed the schedule online http://radiotime.com/options/p_154285/American_Top_40_-_The_80s.aspx even though as I write this it's on the usual station from 3 PM Saturday (The River, Toledeo, OH).
