Apparently XM has canceled American Top 40 80's shows. So I will have to listen to an online stream.

Luckily I could find a list here:

It's probably the same show but with stations that can stream, you have a lot of choices in case you miss it at a certain time.

Not sure how up-to-date that list is. There's a station in Portland (KLTH, Oldies 106.7) that carries the 70s show and is not on the Radiotime list but is on the Wikipedia one. (Sundays 10am to 1pm, if anyone cares.)

Jim Croce debuts posthumously at #40; Looking Glass only feel dead as their wonderful "Jimmy Loves Mary Anne" drops to 39 from its #33 peak.  And Roberta Flack's forgotten "Jesse" (a Janis Ian compo) sneaks in at 38, followed by Joe Simon with the first of 2 hits from the Cleopatra Jones sndtk.

VHM the Osmonds' "Let Me In" -- they were far more appealing in ballad mode than with Merrill screeching his lungs out on stuff like "Yo-Yo".

Marvin & Diana's "You're a Special Part of Me" is not my fave duet of theirs. Talk about a song without a hook.  And I barely remember the Ohio Players' "Ecstasy", with its weird chart action: debuts at 34, spends 2 weeks there, drops to 45, then re-enters at... 34. And next week it will drop out again, only to re-enter a third time (!) the week after that.

Gaz is missing quite a week for deflowering: Bobby Goldsboro chases the boy in him away, and a few songs later Conway Twitty says "You've Never Been This Far Before".

But VHM Kool & the Gang's "Funky Stuff" -- their first Top 40 appearance!

I remember us discussing this America-ish cover of "In the Midnight Hour" by Cross Country (former members of the Tokens) last year. It completely escaped my notice in '73.

BOS1 Miss Millie Jackson's superb perf on "Hurts So Good", our 2nd Cleo Jones hit.  And the J-5 say "get up off yo' high horse, girl!"

Interesting stat: of the 13 songs we've heard in the first hour, only ONE would make it to the Top Ten -- "I Got a Name".

   Casey put the hex on The Pointer Sisters "Yes We Can Can" by declaring it was on it's way to the top 10.  Great countdown. Not even Bobby Goldboro, Tony Orlando & Dawn or Marie Osmond can mess it up. While "Why Me" by Kris Kristofferson had a long run (19 weeks in the 40) it only reached #16. It ended up in the top 10 for 1973 (#6 as a matter of fact). Dylan called it one of the best songs ever written. One of the few songs me and my parents could agree on. "Keep on Truckin'" and "That Lady" rule!!!  Gladys Knight & The Pips "Midnight Train To Georgia" still sounds great after all these years.

Sorry I didn't get to hear this; easily one of the more diverse charts, sonically, in memory.

They're not on the Billboard website?  I used to save them -- have a bunch at home somewhere, but I wasn't yet buying the mag in '73.
