Always a treat when DJ Marilynn pulls out "Lou Rawls LIVE" -- recorded circa '66. The eagle flies on Friday.. and Monday too.

Judge plays the Fatback Band, "Keep on Steppin' Brother Man" -- which was later re-purposed by Ini Kamoze for "Hotstepper"

And it's the swoon-tastic "Sha-la-La" by Rev. Green. Aw, make me happy, bay-bay. And Gladys does: promising to be a better woman fo' me, huggin' an' a-lovin', gittin' wit da kissin'.

Personal fave of the day: Tavares' version of H&O's "She's Gone"

DAY-um! the J-5's "Whatever You Got, I Want".

And now First Choice meets "The Player" (in those ancient days before it was spelled "playa")

AAAACK! after a fab afternoon (so far), Judge assaults me with the loooong version of Disc-O-Texx and his drippy chiffon.

1340 the Boardwalk is on fire today with stuff that is NTM: reggae/dancehall covers of "Games People Play" and "Baby I need Your Loving (in a medley with "Sherry" and "Stay") and a Johnnie Taylor song about "you can't strike gold in a silver mine".

and not New but always welcome: the Noisettes' "Never Forget You"

New discovery: a good classic country stream, WBRF in Galax, VA, whereverthehell that is! Check out their "recently played" log:

http://www.blueridgecountry98.com/bluegrassradiostations.aspx

ETA: Galax is near the NC border... about 75 miles from Winston-Salem.

OMG: Mac Davis, "It's Hard to be Humble"!

and now Red Foley and Hank Thompson back-to-back! This station rules.

OMG2: Lynn Anderson's forgotten "Rose Garden" follow-up, "How Can I Un-Love You?" And speaking of soundalike sequels: Glen Campbell's got his feet in LA.
