In lieu of KBCO's 10@10, which is MIA this week, I'm listening to last nite's Little Steven show, which got delayed past 10pm due the Niners post-game.
He's saluting the anniversary of Allan Ginsburg's "Howl" and, in an unrelated side-trip, played the Wonders' "That Thing You Do" to lead off a salute to that film (released nine years ago this month).
"the ONE-ders! Get it?"
"Looks like the oh-nee-ders."
-
Monday afternoon funk on KPOO: Rick James, "Ghetto Life".
-
OMG! Shalamar, "Dead Giveaway". I own this 12-inch but haven't heard the song since '83.
-
OMG2! Teena Marie, "I Need Your Lovin'", followed by Prince, "Pop Life". This show should be piped into Dave's living room to remind him there was soul in the '80s...
-
after adouble dose of Alexander O'Neal ("Fake" AND "Criticize"), we get "Oops Upside Your Head"! And my Funky Monday comes to a close...
-
I must find my way there. I have been DDTing all day.
-
CG-ing for a bit. Mott, "All the Way From Memphis", nicest surprise so far.
-
oo! Joe South, "Games People Play".
-
oo! Joe South, "Games People Play".
"Furthermore, to hell with hate!"
-
Bee Gees, "Secret Love" from 1991 -- I have never heard this song before.
-
Wed CG: ONJ, "Xanadu".
-
yay for "the israelites" on cg!

you touch me in the barn and sound your alarm (or whatever he says). I don't want to end up like Bonnie and Clyde!
Dude -- it's obscure Status Quo! "Paper Plane".

not certain. i think he *must* have, though. it cannot be avoided. has he played howard jones's "life in one day?" those songs are inseparable in my mind.
-
wow, Neil D, "Forever in Blue Jeans". I've always considered that his bordering-on-self-parody period but that sounded nice. What's the opposite of crankypants?
-
Donovan, "First There is a Mountain". I'm having a flashback -- and I never did acid!

Then I'm wearing the sweetjeans, sweetcakes.
OMG! "Wuthering Heights"!
Some days Dean's show is completely pedestrian, and some days it's amazing. Today has been amazing. And now "Eloise"!
-
Last CG post of the day: Dean plays the Supes, "Falling In & Out of Love", one of my fave lesser-heard songs of theirs. Heavenly.
-
WLNG Nugget o' the Day: Grass Roots, "Where Were You When I Needed You", before they discovered horns.
-
Yikes! "Forever in Blues Jeans" twice in one day. That's what I get for saying nice things about it.
-
"you're the entertainer!"
i love kpoo.
-

AAAACK! Peter Cetera, "Glory of Love". One of the low points of '80s pop. time to switch to 'LNG, methinks.

Followed by ONJ, "Deeper Than the Night".
-
'LNG Nugget o' the Day: Gary Puckett, "This Girl Is A Woman Now", not to be confused with "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon".
-
aahh...barry as billy!
I tried to think of what this was a reference to -- and came up empty. What was it?

Ms Summer & one of her shining moments: "Dinner w/Gershwin".

Followed by Bobby Brown, "Every Little Step".

Rev Al, "Full of Fire". Greg's in fine form today.
-
"like the invisible man in drag
she's using her skirt as a flag"
