BOS to Westerberg. Not his best effort by far, but in the context of this set, I'll take it.
Let's get right to it.

Why did everyone forget how to play drums imaginatively in 1993?  This song after Toad the Wet Sprocket is boring my nuts off.

just guessin' but I suppose Gaz is glad he reserved hiw WOS vote until the Sting song came on.

If you ever hear Eva Cassidy's version, which is awesome, in contrast Sting's vocal workout here sounds very flat.

The Eva Cassidy version IS pretty, but the lyrics don't do anything for me.

In other news, I got laid off from Siemens yesterday (after 16 years), so I'm currently in the market for a new SW job.  Got one?

What does "SW" mean in this context?

My sincere condolences, with my hopes that as one door closes, another opens.  That tends to be how these things work.

Dude, that SUCKS. Did they give you any warning that was coming? Btw, what's SW translate to? I'll keep an eye out here at CNET.

Kudos to Urthwerm for the shoutout!

Condolences to Dave.  Hey Gaz, do you have an email for Brandon?  I'd pass that along to Dave to hook up with Brandon's dad.

Southwest, pardner.  I'm lookin' fer a new job as a cowboy.  Or maybe it's software.

Thanks for the good wishes.  Actually the severance pay takes nearly all the sting out of it.  And the company is nearly totally screwed up now, so it's good to get out.

Can CNET fire you for asking that question?

Wow, there's a first. Surprised Westy didn't garner a couple of more votes, tho.

Nope--"SW" isn't CNET style. And it's not my beat anyway.

We were in the midst of a massive re-org, so upper level folks had already been let go.  Though they assured us that there wouldn't be cuts at the engineer level, we strongly suspected that that was not the case.  Which it wasn't.  125 people were let go at the individual contributor level.

Did that also include either of your friends that POC & I met for lunch the last time?

Actually, there's an opening here for a Technical Project Manager.  Emphasis on programming background (c++, sql, etc...) and management.  In SF, small company, Workers Comp, general liability tracking/reporting software.  Let me know if you're remotely interested, and I'll shoot you more info...
