Instant BOS to Son Of Rolling Stone, aka "Masterpiece."  Love an ambitions Whitfield production.  I forget who mimicked the Eddie Kendricks falsetto part so well.

I never noticed how similar the riff of "Panic in Detroit" is to that of "Spiders and Snakes."  Who ever would have drawn that line of influence?

Actually I always found this one a tad overblown. But BOS "Panic in Detroit".

Guilty displeasure: "Too High" has become one of my least favorites among Stevie's golden era.  "She's a tangerine," huh?  Um, yeh, drugs 'r bad, mm-kay.

Watergate Pop Quiz:  Elliott Richardson wouldn't carry out the firing of Archibald Cox, and quit.  His deputy, William Ruckleshaus, wouldn't carry out the firing and didn't quit, so he was fired.  The clip told us Ron Ziegler was just the press secretary announcing this.  But who was the 3rd guy who actually DID carry out the firing?

(Hint: it didn't hurt his career at all & he later held a very high post.)

BOS #2 Stevie, BOS #3 ELP.

Dude, it's inscrutable lyrics!

Do you want to be the lover of another?
Undercover you can even be the Man on the Moon.

There's willfully obscure, and then there's total heaviosity.  This is the latter

I hooked up with a Deadhead once to the strains of "Eyes of the World."  Was nice, but just as well that it didn't work out; he shared a name with a very famous newscaster & that would have been awkward.

Meanwhile, Mark, I had to look up the answer to your question.  Not surprised by the answer, but wow.  "Whether ours shall be a government of laws and not of men is now for Congress and ultimately the American people."

And now, continuing the Peak thread of soundalike followups, here's "I'll Take You There Again," aka "Come Go With Me."

Gaz gave another quote that maybe won't help so much.  He later said things such as,

"The warning message we sent the Russians was a calculated ambiguity that would be clearly understood."

and

"That's not a lie, it's a terminological inexactitude. Also, a tactical misrepresentation."

That's funny, if you Google "fired Archibald Cox" as I did, you get a shitload of links saying it was Bork, who was Solicitor General.

Wikipedia also says it's Bork, though their own exactitude is often called into question.

And for those of you vaguely curious, here's a legal snippet (2 min) of the end of a live Eyes of the World, with a bass solo.  Dreadful for most of you I presume, but what the hey!  I gotta be happy they played  it, even if I missed it!
