Turning Japanese: The GS Phenomenon
« on: March 31, 2005, 12:21:58 PM »
So, last night I picked up Vol 1 of GS I Love You: Japanese Garage Bands of the 1960s. It's a CD from the BigBeat label.

Pretty fecking interesting and in some cases- downright awesome. Some very interesting covers, too. A group called The Swing West do a pretty cool take on "Fire" (as in the song Arthur Brown made famous) and The Spiders do a cover of "Wipeout" that'll kick your Gaijin ass.

I'll have to bring it to the next gathering.

PS: 'GS' stands for 'Group Sounds', which is what the Japanese called their 60s rock&roll.
nakes? On my plane?
