amazingly, we haven't visited '83 since August (and that was a "classic")... but we heard Naked Eyes then too. VHM.

"3rd Tier!?"  You are the chartmeister, and that was BY FAR their best chart single.

I'm so mad it makes me hungry like the wolf!  ;)  ;)  ;)

I mean "3rd tier" quality-wise, not chart-wise!  I much prefer '70s Tubes to their commercial '80s stuff.

at this point in my life I certainly like the music from other years better than 1983, but at the same time I can say for sure that there was no other year in my life (I was 19 going on 20) when music was a bigger part of my everyday life than in 1983.  So almost every song is a major flashback.

And right at the top is Plimsouls!

number two year, again from the experiential standpoint, would a been 1978.  Which Ginger just played.

Dave's choice of political clips has been dead-on in recent weeks.  VHM Plimsouls.

I 'surrender' to the awesomeness that is Dave after a week's vacation.

speaking of, he went to Michigan (2nd or 3rd time in a year, iirc) and didn't do his usual week renting a house in North Carolina.  The folks must be getting old.

OMFG! Culture Club, this is (somewhat surprisingly) a relative rarity.  BOS3!

Another rarity, and my fave TFF song - "Pale Shelter" (unheard for nearly 2.5 yrs)

ETA:  this should be dedicated to John McCain - "And I can't operate on this failure, when I all I want to be is...completely in command."

His "If I Was" is one of my favorite lost songs of the '80s, I wish someone would dig it up for an '85 set.

I'm giving a BOS5 to Henley, and it's nobody's business but mine.

BOS #6 a rare Don Henley track that I've always loved.

ETA: and one that I'm surprised to see Dave has played 4 times in the past 3 yrs.  Somehow I think I missed it until today.

technically it's the group Genesis, but I hear you: Phil's songwriting completely overwhelmed the band's direction by this point and they bore abs NO resemblance to their former proggy selves. I still llike some of this record, FWIW.

BOS #6 a rare Don Henley track that I've always loved.

The drums make me think of Big Country's "Fields of Fire."
