Well, better late than never, I guess. I'd say the Stones, Beatles and Pixies are locks. But there's definitely more than 10 "Monkey" songs, and that's not even including apes and gorillas. Funny, I assumed she didn't do this Monday because she didn't want to do 2 Themes in a row.
-
This "SOB" song is one of the few KFOG discoveries I really like -- coincidentally, Nathaniel Ratlieff and Leon Bridges (another "new" artist I enjoy) were co-billed on Austin City Limits this weekend. It was a fine show.
-
Monkees to start. Heh.
-
Nice start with the Monkees!! Hee Hee

There was a lengthy monkey song thread over in Snipeville yesterday (or was it Monday?). Guess she liked the idea -- I'll be curious to see what she comes up with that was mentioned there -- and wasn't.
-
"Monkey Man" -- Toots? Jimmy Cliff? I can never remember.

I joked over there that maybe she watched the Warriors game last nite -- the NBA is making a HUUUGE deal out of Chinese New Year, including special jerseys, etc.

It sounds like ska that would precede either of those guys, but I've never heard it before.
Like maybe those guys who do "Book of Rules"?
-
Dylan/Wilburys, "Tweeter & the Monkey Man". Hadn't thought of this one.

It's Toots. She's played it a couple times before in whatever year it's from (late '60s?)

You sure? Soundhound said it was the Specials. Toots did do the original, but that was the kind of song that those ska bands were all over in the late 70s.
-
Pixies, as predicted.

You're right -- I see that she's played both versions at various times.

Saw the other day that the Kings cancelled a Year of the Monkey t-shirt giveaway when it was pointed out by one of the players that there were some racist implications to giving out a shirt with a monkey on it on the first day of Black History Month.

Apparently Toots has a "Monkey Girl" AND a "Monkey Man"; AL has played "Man" but not "Girl" before. Too much monkey business indeed.
