Agreed on just about everything you've said here.  Too bad it would be a few more weeks til we heard from the answer record to Shirley, Barbara Mason's "From His Woman to You."  Very fond memories of the Vinton and Sedaka from my earliest days.

"No direction!  No purpose! ...  AWW, girl!"  VHM to the over-the-top "Just to Be Close to You."

How is Whistling Jack Smith's "I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman" not an instrumental?  It wasn't a cappella whistling!

Here's an (unintentionally?) funny "lip-synching" of the song on the U.K.'s Beat Club show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQQ5sEOhbjQ

Joining the show a bit late, BOS to "Love Ballad."  Casey seems to really not like the Ritchie Family's "Best Disco in Town" pastiche-co.

Sigh.  Sorry, guys; it appears I'm done listening to 10@10.  I'll continue popping in on threads though.

Chilliwack should have been given a co-songwriting credit on "Where in the World Is Carmen San Diego?"  HM to "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)."

As expected, this is a lackluster chart to say the least.  VHMFRA ELO's little-heard "Twilight"

WOS1 the adult-contempo dreck of Chris Christian's "I Want You, I Need You"; WOS2 Survivor's "Poor Man's Son" which I surely haven't heard since '81 (and wish I'd kept that streak going)

VHM & proxy of Gaz, Paul Davis -- "Cool Night" is so much better than "'65 Love Affair"

Finally a BOS: Loofa's great "Never Too Much" is easily the highlight of Hour 1.

eeek: Kenny Rogers' long-distance "Lady". WOS3 the godawful cheeziness of "Hooked on Classics"

I'm listening an hour or so behind you.  That LDD for "Lady" was sad.  WOS to the Royal Philharmonic; that dunce-clap beat was the sound of the final nails being pounded into disco's coffin.  But I actually liked the Janeiness of NTM "poor Man's Son."  VHM to Paul Davis.

Having read a bio on Sly that spoke of his dangerous, insane dog Gun at length, I'm unsettled by Casey's story about the fam Stone traveling with "upwards of 20" dogs.

Still and all, BOS3 to "Family Affair," which still gives me chills.

HM to MJ's glistening double-tracked vox on "Got to Be There."  "I need her sharing the world besides me" conveniently leads into "And you see I can't smile without you," ever notice?

This could've gone in the Mick LasSlle thread too. See his comments about FB (he doesn't like it -- prefers Twitter  ::) ) And see my comment, to which he actually replied (something he didn't used to do).

I'm impressed that two 10@10ers essentially have the same id for sfgate. Not in my case.
Make that three.   ;)
Yeah, but you change your screen name every couple of years here!

I have just responded to RGMike's post on the link. I think it's time to change my sfgate screename too!

Happy 1000th post!

OMFG: Les Crane's "Desiderata" -- is it WOS1 or BOS8? or both?

BOS2, sez I.  It's wonderful advice, and without it, there'd be no "Deteriorata."

BOS 3DN.  A few weeks ago I sang "Old-Fashioned Love Song" at my local bar that does weekly karaoke; sadly, it was WAY before the crowd's time.  Damn early-20smethings don't know their pop history!  >:(

VHM the GrassRoots, reaching the end of their sound-alike-hits rope

"Don't Pull Your Love" was initially offered to the Grass Roots, but before they could pull the trigger, Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds snapped it up.  The songwriters assured them, "Don't worry, we'll write you another one," and cranked out 2/<3.
