This KPOO soul thang really IS the sh*t! Tons of stuff I've never heard before (or rarely). Obscure LP cuts etc. OMG! the Sylvers!
The deejay calls himself "young, gifted, black -- and BAD!" LOL!

I was fine for 2 hours and then they went to, er, sh*t. So I switcherd to WLNG in time for the uncensored version ("one HELL of a man") of "Big Bad John". Almost nobody plays that version.

Isn't KPOO hq'ed at Divisidero & Geary? I'm fairly sure I used to walk by its studio all the time.

yup. that's them. Their Sat nite show (which sadly begins at 1am NY time) is da bomb!

ah, the CG Jukebox: nothin' like a segue from Crazy World of Arthur Brown, "Fire"... to Andy Williams, "Music to Watch Girls By". LOL!
ETA: and here's the Proclaimers' "Letter From America", as wonderful as "500 Miles" and completely unknown in the US.
-
WLNG oddity of the day: the 45 single version of Zep's "Whole Lotta Love", which I probably haven't heard since 1970.
-
WLNG Nugget o' the Day: Petula Clark, "Who Am I?" Haven't heard that since it was a hit.
-
Thriller!
Now makes me envision 13 going on 30, Jen Garner, Mark Ruffalo. Good fun.
-
I'll join ya after the bonus track...
-
I have to head out to a client at 11:10.
-
TANC! Herbie Hancock, "Rockit", the track I forgot to request from Dave this morning.
-
TANC2! Superfly--just listened to this album last nite!
-
Greg sounds pre-recorded today; none of his lengthy asides (which I happen to love) and playing mostly obvious "hits". But a fine mix nonetheless.
-
oo! Isleys, "Behind a Painted Smile" from their brief stay at Motown. All their Motown stuff sounds like it was written for Levi Stubbs.
ETA: "Nothin' Goin' On but the Rent"! Gots to have a J-O-B, baby!
-
I'm baaaack.
You've got the bes of my love. Oh oh ohhhho
-
get on board the luv train

Let's dance, let's shout, shake your body down to the ground.
Can't help but dance. Cow-orkers think I'm a really happy person.

Wait 'til they discover the dark side of Alicat. Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

"Dishin' out the dirt on everybody... givin' each other the 4-1-1!" Yay Ree-Ree!
-
Sweeny, not McCartney.
Playing Clapton's Revolution Now a few minutes ago. Wonder if he has to pay royalties to Mick & Keith for nicking the first two lines of The Last Time.
-
Doin' the KPOO thang. Roberta & Donny (or Roberta & Peabo, I forget) "You Are My Heaven". "Make me sing la-di-da".
-
Sweeny's playing a nice lengthy set of tunes from Bowie's David Live. Changes, Suffagette City, and now the rarely-heard (these days) Diamond Dogs.
-
And at 3:43 PDT, he's got Sex Pistols, Ramones and the Undertones up next! Don't say I didn't warn ya.

Sadly I left work early. But I heard his fine opening set of "rock'n'roll" songs (Stones, Joan Jett, Chuck Berry) and that new Simple Minds track he played -- can't believe KFOG is ignoring that album, given how many of their classics are in regular rotation. Gotta put Mr Sweeney back on my Friday sked.
