Austin "Bob" week of 4/20/09
« on: April 20, 2009, 10:22:49 AM »
Monday, 4/20/09: 1981

guess they don't celebrate 420 on Austin either...

Ray Parker Jr -A Woman Needs Love
Rolling Stones -Start Me Up
Neil Diamond -Love On The Rocks
Donnie Iris -Ah! Leah
REO Speedwagon -Keep On Loving You
Carl Carlton -She's A Bad Mama Jama
John Mellencamp -Ain't Even Done With The Night
Rick Springfield -Jessie's Girl
Hall & Oates -Kiss On My List

kudos on the Carl Carlton -- Dave's only played that once, iirc, but it's a song that SCREAMS "1981" to me. Huge in NYC.

The guy who won the 9:00 Pop Quiz today - tix for The Dead at Shoreline & also for a Fogheads-only Playspace show -  quoth:

"Wow, this makes 4/21 even better than 4/20!"

heh, heh

Thursday 4/23/09: 1978

Pablo Cruise -Love Will Find A Way
Foreigner -Hot Blooded
Heatwave -Groove Line
Walter Egan -Magnet And Steel
Eric Clapton -Lay Down Sally
Gino Vannelli -I Just Wanna Stop
Steely Dan -Peg
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers -Breakdown
Bee Gees -Night Fever

an epidemic of '78 sets this week; this one's pretty "meh" except for the fabulous Gino Vanelli who we don't hear often enuf, IMHO.

I got funny looks on the ILM board when I suggested that the titles of his hits summarize the Terri Schiavo story: "People Gotta Move." "I Just Wanna Stop" "Living Inside Myself."

That's delightfully twisted.  I love the way your mind works.
