instant Gaz WOS: Dave Edmunds, "Slippin' Away" to the Jeff Lynne side.
-
And a weak followup from Philesis.

it's just a shame, that's all.
-
Boo Call. 0 fer 3 so far. Though Slipplin Away doesn't really bother me.
-
BOS that Reagan/Falwell montage. That was genius -- hey Dave, I hear Cumulus don't like rabble-rousers...
-
Phew, BOS Police. Always liked Synchronicity 1 better than 2.
ETA: Holy Toledo -- part 2! Haven't heard these together since I listened to the album, which was proabably in the 80s.
-

well, you get a double-play, in any case.
-
But a hearty BOO for the Police twin-spin. I suspect this will count as two songs--although in 83 that may not be such a big loss.
-
No problem with the BOS for Mr. Fagen and "Green Flower Street." I know this one came out in 82.
-
"Green Flower Street", the joy is complete. Maybe the best of a lackluster lot.
-
BOS to SH6, Neil and the Shocking Pinks, Wonderin'.
-
Neil and the Shocking Katrinks.
Well, Dave's been on a roll this week, but this is strictly rote except for the political newsclips.
-
I hate to boo Neil Young, but he pissed me off when I saw him with the Blue Notes. It was a show at the Castro Theater (in Mountain View), and he did the same set twice. I left after the 3rd or 4th song in the second set. "Second set, same as the first!"
ETA: Oops, so it's not the Blue Notes. Still isn't good. Boo anyway.
-
Yay for Thomas.
-
Europa and the 'trina Twins. Well, coulda been worse, coulda been "Blinded Me w/Science".
-
BOS2 Vanessa Williams -- she had the last laugh.
Yeesh, Big 'trina, "In a Big 'trina".

You weren't the only one. A couple friends and I went to see 'em at the Omni in Oakland (remember that place?) and I'd heard that was his MO so I wasn't bugged, but I guess I forgot to tell my friends, who were hoping to hear Cowgirl in the Sand and Needle and the Damage Done and such. They were pretty pissed. That's Neil for you. Does whatever the f*** he wants. I gather he's a pretty weird guy.
-
BOS2 the Kinks--Ray's last great story-song. Also kind of a return to his more melodic style, after the arena rock of the late 70s.
-
Kinks make it official: laziest 1983 set in some time. It's KFOG's greatest '83 hits!

It is a good song, but it's also a KFOG playlist staple, and hence rather shamelessly lackluster, choice-wise. As has the whole set been.

Yeah, that probably sums him up. I never really found out why he did it. I thought they must be making a live album and wanted to get two shots at everything. I guess the real story is they only had one set's worth of tunes.
-
"you are not special enough to overcome a bad marriage."
BOS3 Shirley & Debra.
Jeeezus fucking christ! "Our House"?!? This really IS lazy. Bet it wins BOS too...

Yeah, I can't dispute that this set pales in comparison to, say, yesterday's. Nothing at all resembling a decent nugget anywhere to be found.

<sarcasm>
"Our House", yet another breakout in today's set.
</sarcasm>
-
I haven't been so happy to hear that buzzer in quite a long time.

I haven't been so happy to hear that buzzer in quite a long time.
but Dave sez " that was so good i'm gonna listen to the replay tonight". Give that man a joint or three.
-
So I switch to CG and I get Dan Hartman's fabulous "I Can Dream About You", off by a year (it's '84) but more interesting than just about anything we heard today.

Yeah, right. He's most likely going to be tucked safe in his bed by 10pm tonight.

Guess I'm in the minority. I like this set. Hated yesterdays.
-
I didn't 'hate' the set, it just didn't inspire. Admittedly, we're a bit jaded...
