DC's favorite year. I will say that this was a pretty impressive week, range-wise, considering that we were prepared for the worst.
-
And once again I have to to actual *work* at work (the nerve!) and will miss this '85 excursion. Hope some of the fab suggestions on FB actually get played.
-
This isn't one of my fave Huey Lewis & The News songs, but I like them anyway (for different reasons than RG). ;)

It has gotten more than its share of 10@10 play, that's for sure.

Song 2 is NTM.
-
BOS1 Time Zone's (feat. John Lydon & Afrika Bambaataa) "World Destruction".
-
Song 2 is NTM.
Me too. No idea who it is.
ETA: I was gonna say it sounded like the Sex Pistols crossed with a hip-hop group, which appears to be pretty close to the truth.
-
This "World Destruction" is NTM and a bit annoying at parts but also catchy. Definitely glad she played it.

John Lydon (or PiL? ) with Afrika Bombaataa I think? SG would know, b/c she's OG.

Yeah, Song 2 was a welcome gamechanger.
I'm not too ashamed to admit I like "The Old Man Down The Road".
-
Great Nancy quote:
"I'm aware of people trying to use my husband..."
Q: "You're more aware than he is?"
"Yes"
But will Annalisa get the "just say no" clip in somewhere? All signs point to "yes"!

I suggest you run through the jungle. That'll clear it up.
#4 is NTM. Very good rarity factor for '85.

Love both the song and vid for "Don't Come Around Here No More". Nice production by Dave Stewart, might I add.

Was that Madeline Kahn? Didn't sound familiar.
-
Tom Petty needs to follow his own advice.

Good factoid. It does sound more Eurythmic than Petty.

Snap times ten!
yeah, this one is heard too dang much.
-
BOS to Song 6... every even song has been NTM, whereas every odd has been a frequent flier/Katrina.
-
And Song 7 is neither... I've heard it, but not a frequent flier... FYC

It's NTM! Pretty cool groove.

It's called Johnny Come Home, like it. It's got a African high life feel to it.

It's also on their greatest hits collection.

LOL!

HM for David and Pat. Would normally stand out in '85, but there's so much interesting stuff today, it fades to the back a bit. Great movie too.
-
BOS New Order
-
I'll give another BOS to "Perfect Kiss". Love the ribbits.

I'd agree that this, Petty and Jon are the Frequent Fliers of this set. And Huey too, but overall it's been an education.
-
Liking the set today. It's got some much-needed variety.
"Kiss me on the bus"? Is that obscene? ;-)
-
Is it a perfect kiss on the bus? Maybe not, but it's a hot one...
-
And that makes 50% NTM/Rarities.
-
BOS New Order, Zone Time
LN: Fogerty and Petty
VHM everything else
Pretty much, that's how you do a great set. I'm impressed. Can we do this every day?
-
Apparently that WAS Madeline Kahn in "Clue". Anybody ever see that? I didn't.

Exactly. A couple of obvious selections to be opiate for the masses, and go crazy with the rest.

don't recall, but I'll look for it now.
BOS to Fine Young Cannabis and Bowie/Metheny
-
BOS New Order & Clue. That was a great movie.

6/1/12-Friday! Back In Time to 1985!!
(Movie: Back to the Future - Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) "I need your help to get back to 1985.")
1. Huey Lewis and the News - Back In Time
(Movie: Back to the Future - Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) "Ok, future boy, who's president in 1985?...Ronald Reagan? The actor? Then who's vice president, Jerry Lewis?")
2. Time Zone - World Destruction
(News: First Lady Nancy Reagan:more aware than the president?)
3. John Fogerty - The Old Man Down the Road
4. Husker Du - Makes No Sense At All
(Movie: Clue- Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn) "I hated her...")
5. Tom Petty - Don't Come Around Here No More
6. Belouis Some - Imagination
7. Fine Young Cannibals - Johnny Come Home
(News: Pentagon spy inquiry. Boyce & Daulton/The Falcon and the Snowman)
8. David Bowie - This Is Not America
(Movie: Clue - Col. Mustard (Martin Mull) "Why is J. Edgar Hoover on your phone?" Wadsworth (Tim Curry) - "I don't know, he's on everybody else's, why shouldn't he be on mine?")
9. New Order - Perfect Kiss (B.O.S!)
(Movie: Pee Wee's Big Adventure - Pee Wee & Francis"I know you are but what am I?...Infinity!!")
10. The Replacements - Kiss Me on the Bus
Holy crap -- nobody noticed/mentioned Belouis Some's "Imagination" (a great Bowie soundalike -- you'd think it was an outtake from "Let's Dance" -- and a bustout I do believe)? BOS from me, shoulda had that on my wish-list. VHMs Husker Du, "World Destruction" and FYC, all welcome, tho' AL has played them before afaik. The rest: pretty tried'n'true. At least it was Huey's "Back in Time" and not "Power of Love", one of the Moreytrinas of all time.
