Well, we'd've preferred Election Day, but '70s two days in a row is nothing to sneeze at.
-
Looking ahead, KFOG has begun flogging the latest LFTA disc. It drops a week from Saturday, so we can likely expect an LFTA set, some time next week, I'd wager.

indeed -- Thursday's "New Music" thingy is all about the LFTA.
Is "You may be Right" from '79? or '80?

Hmmm--good point. You May Be Right.
But Allmusic is slow, so it's taking me awhile to get the answer.
ETA: Yep, it was released March 1980. And YMBR hit #7 in that year as well. But I'm not gonna be the one to tell DM he flubbed this one.

Here come the jesters, one two three...
BOS Bad Company!

Top40db sez '80. I'm sure Dave regrets the error...
-
WWWWWWWWOS: "Heartache Tonight," a hint of the vacuous lyricism that Frey would later "perfect" with "The Heat Is On."
-
I'm not gonna be the one to tell DM he flubbed this one.
I already did... he expects it of me, I'm sure
-
BOS Al Stewart. "Song On The Radio". Lovely, just lovely.
-
OMFG! BOS Al Stewart "Song on the Radio"!
-
I've never heard this song before, obviously Al Stewart on the vox, but is that Tom Scott on sax? Reminds me of "Jazzman" and "Car on a Hill" a bit.
-

Neil Tennant was gonna do an Al Stewart tribute album... but nobody would've been able to tell the diff.
-
Think I've spotted the vinyl.
-
SPOT THAT VINYL!
-
Woo Hoo, another BOS for "No Time To Lose".
-
I've never heard this song before, obviously Al Stewart on the vox, but is that Tom Scott on sax? Reminds me of "Jazzman" and "Car on a Hill" a bit.
Nope, AMG says it's Phil Kenzie. Similar tone to Tom Scott, but a little honkier.
And this could potentially be another wrong year--Time Passages was released in 78, it says, and this didn't chart so potentially the chart action rule doesn't apply. Dave must remember it from 79, that's it.
-
Who's this "no time to lose, no time to lose"? If I had to guess, I'd say Head East, but I think I've only heard this once or twice before.
-

No time, Toulouse!
-

I was already looking that up, thinking it might've been Rafael Ravenscroft, but it's someone named Phil Kenzie who has no other links in AMG.
-

Little River Band?

It charted in '79, I'm sure of it.

Little River Band?
Tarney-Spencer Band, their only significant hit & a WDRV staple.

You just like saying "Rafael Ravenscroft."
That's OK, so do I.

you are correct, sir! (I think)
Mark, isn't this another of those peaked-at-#41-or-thereabouts songs?
-
ELO's lyrics at their most nonsensical: "You're looking good just like a snake in the grass"?
Never did figure out who "Brrrrruce" (as opposed to "Brooooce") is, or why he's bringing J.Lynne down.
-

oops, we're both wrong.

Ooops, I must have clicked wrong or else there was a momentary glitch on AMG. He has an extensive credit history, starting with Manfred Mann in '69 and notably featuring the original cast recording of Rocky Horror!

#49 iirc.

Ah, what the hell, BOS to JaneyJaneyJa-yay-yay-yay-ee-yayne.
-
AAAAAAAAAACK!!!
WOS JaneyJaneyJaneyJane.
JinxeyJinxeyJINX!
-
Ah, what the hell, BOS to JaneyJaneyJa-yay-yay-yay-ee-yayne.
I like it. And there isn't much from them from that era that I can say that about.
-
We go from silly ELO lyrics to silly Starship lyrics. But hey, that's what it was like in '79.
Like a cat and a mouse (cat and a mouse)
From door to door and house to house
Don't you pretend you don't know
What I'm talkin' about
I ain't pretending bub, wtf are you talking about?
-
Don Adams on the Love Boat? That I gotta see.
-
"a live talent show where you pick the winner on the air!"
Hmmm... sounds familiar...
-
Don Adams on the Love Boat? That I gotta see.
Would you believe...Barbara Feldon on "Fantasy Island"?
-
A Dave Fave: Patrick Hernandez, "Born to Be Alie-yeeve."
-
Don Adams on the Love Boat? That I gotta see.
Would you believe...Barbara Feldon on "Fantasy Island"?
That would be h-h-h-h-h-h-ot! (Is that true?)
-
BOS2 "Born To Be Alive".
-
Sledgehammer!
Dancing in German discos in the summer of '79 to Patrick Hernandez.
-
A Dave Fave: Patrick Hernandez, "Born to Be Alie-yeeve."
This sounds like the punchline to a Steven Wright joke.
"A woman sat next to me on the bus. She said her name was "Joan" and she was a nymphomaniac but only attracted to Irish Latinos. I said, 'nice to meet you. My name is Patrick Hernandez.'"
-
A Dave Fave: Patrick Hernandez, "Born to Be Alie-yeeve."
It's kinda Sylvester-ish, only with a guy's voice
-
AAAAAAAAAACK!!!
WOS Styx when they sold out!
ETA: Seriously, I rate this only one tenth of a notch above "You Light Up My Life"
-
Eeewwww, it's a double shot of Velveeta: Born to Be Alive, into Styx' Babe.
-
Don Adams on the Love Boat? That I gotta see.

That would be h-h-h-h-h-h-ot! (Is that true?)
er, no. It was a Get Smart reference, see. Sorry about that, chief!
-
Ladies and Gentlemen, they do not get any cheezier than this.
VHM anyway. Dennis DeYoung and Styx, I salute you for your guileless dorkiness and theatricality with even the most mundane of ideas.
-
A girl I dated in HS liked this song. So I have kind of a squishy spot in my heart for it. It is, in fact, totally pukey.

This is UBER-cheeze. So of course it was their Biggest. Hit. EVAH!

I got it, Mike. Just hopeful.
Would you believe...Ruth Buzzi and a midget on "Love American Style"?

Didn't realize until now that this was their only No. 1. I'd thought "Mr. Roboto" had gone all the way.
-
Way to go, RGM!
-
I'm not gonna be the one to tell DM he flubbed this one.
I already did... he expects it of me, I'm sure
And you got a shoutout for your trouble. But he does regret it...

anybody else still got the stream going to hear the ad for last Saturday's Breeder's Cup? Wonder if KFOG is still getting paid to run that.

I had just pulled into the parking lot to vote when Annalisa gave the guy his choices. Needless to say I didn't get out of the car for 4 minutes.

Looking ahead, KFOG has begun flogging the latest LFTA disc. It drops a week from Saturday, so we can likely expect an LFTA set, some time next week, I'd wager.
What is LFTA?

Would you believe...Barbara Feldon on "Fantasy Island"?
Yes.
What star didn't aspire to guest on Love Boat or Fantasy Island?
I still want to find DVDs of Love American Style and not sure there are any. Let me know if you know a source.

Excellent, No Time To Lose.
whooo!
-
Janey Jane sounds mighty good.
-
Born to be alive baby! Dancin' cat! Time to DISCO! I wish this had more full-bodied sound. Maybe just my speakers.
-
Babe, that was the sound of me gagging. What a let down.

And he mentioned YOU in the back announce.
