Some great clips in this set--love that KMart ad.

"Barbecues to roast your wieners" indeed.
Let's get right to it.

This is one of the ultimate cases of a cover supplanting the original, which is no small feat for a Dylan song

"Two riders were approaching, and the wind began to howl."

This was used in the graphic novel Watchmen to great effect (each chapter ended with a quote, and this qoute led into the final chapter).  Wonder if/how they will work this into the film.  From all appearances it hews very closelyto the source material.

And it comes out on my birthday!

i'm really digging the extracurriculars w this set.  I suppose with some of these short songs -- I was surprised at how short the Donovan song was -- Dave needs to fill the gaps.

Love this Lulu take on Morning Dew.

There's no question that Jimi made this his song, but I'd say there are numerous instances of the covers of Dylan songs being better than the original.  The Byrds practically made a career of excellent Dylan covers, wouldn't ya say?

Safe to say this is the one and only time this appears in the DB.

Geoff, did this predate the GD version of Dew?

And the first half of Manfred Mann's career, before he switched to Springsteen covers.

Jimi's version is also one of the rare cases where the cover preceeded the original's release.

That's right, had momentarily forgotten that.  You wanna go catch the movie?  I'll be in the city that afternoon/evening retrieving my mother-in-law from SFO.
