I sure hope there aren't any potential new club members lurking on this thread, we are definitely showing off our darker humor here, and they might get the wrong idea.

Except it's not necessarily the wrong idea.

Like Alan Alda's character says in Crimes and Misdemeanors "comedy is tragedy plus time."

(insert time of death joke here.)

ok, I'll stop.  this is in poor taste.

Bangkok... taste...?    maybe I'll eat Thai today.  Mmmmm....

The latest is they're saying it was "accidental" -- meaning it was one of those Michael Hutchence-style erotic-asphyxiation deals. Ewww.

Maybe he was practicing the Mysterious and Mystical Shoa Lin rope trick -- kung-fu-icide.

But seriously, RIP.  Thanks for the memories.  I watched Kung Fu every week.

the latest from Bangkok:

Quote
Bangkok - Thai police on Friday refused to rule out the possibility of foul play in the death of US actor David Carradine, whose body was found in his Bangkok hotel closet the previous day in what forensic experts described as an ‘abnormal’ death scene.

‘We haven’t excluded any possibilities,’ said Police Colonel Thavachai Maekprasertsuk, deputy director of the police forensic institute.

According to reports today from the Bangkok Post, The Thai Metropolitan Police commissioner says Carradine’s hands were tied behind his back.

Forensic experts have also reportedly found a footprint on the bed which did not match the shoes worn by the actor. There was also a glass of water in the room and experts are checking to see if the drink had been tampered with.

You CANNOT make this stuff up: the actual NY POST headline re: Carradine...

http://www.nypost.com/seven/06052009/frontback.htm

Not quite as good as "Headless Body in Topless Bar" but definitely up there.

In one of the weirder TANCs, the late Mr Carradine is the guest star on Tues nite's episode of the FOX summer-burn-off series "Mental", playing a catatonic man.

this is bad journalism -- we should reserve judgment until the facts are in.  I mean, how do we know he was really hung?  ;)

proper grammar has been defenestrated in this case ... tee hee, I guess "Hanged Fu" just didn't cut it.

"Maybe David Carradine wouldn't have been tying himself up alone—which is highly dangerous (obviously)—if he'd been lucky enough to marry someone who wasn't a judgmental, small-minded, sex-negative, dick-shriveling piece of shit. Just sayin' "

That is the Quote of the Week, fo' sho'

Been listening to last weekend's Idiot's Delight from Vin Scelsa on WFUV, and he commented on Carradine's demise. He said it sounded like something out of a detective novel (mentioned a specific author, but the name didn't stick with me). Then he said he was waiting for the gallows humor to start coming out in the form of jokes about Carradine. Which he followed with Murray Head's One Night In Bangkok from Chess and an Alex Chilton tune also called Bangkok.
