back to CGSS: J-5, "Skywriter", one of their rarely-heard lesser hits. Love that phasing!

JB on the Goodfoot!  another one for the self-referential list: "dancin' to the music of the James Brown Band".

Holy Sh!t: CG just played some metalhead metal anthem, "I'm gonna LOVE ya ALL NIGHT LONG!!!"  I assumed it was Spinal Tap but turns out it was Rainbow.  They were serious?!   :o

Ah, thanks.  I've tuned in, just in time for the (1971?) slowed-tempo "Where Did Our Love Go."  Did it always have that high-pitched squeal in the background?  Sounded especially distracting, like a misguided remix.

And now ... "Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart."  Appropriate in light of the disco string washes, I guess.

Rhino's Trammps best-of is the best 8 dollars I ever spent.

Wow, a cover of "Suavecito"!  Beach Music RULES!

Solomon Burke, "Got To Get You Off My Mind"... the orig, iirc -- I know the Southside Johnny cover from the '70s.

Good lord, who's this covering Englebert's "After The Lovin'"? And why?

playing the Dead's version of "Good Lovin'" (Mike need not comment!) with Lowell George on lead vocals, and what sounds like Sneaky Pete on pedal steel (uncredited).  No Garcia at all.  Great track IMHO
Don't stand in the way of LOVE!

Judge is all about the ladies tonight:

Taste of Honey's nice cover of Smokey's "I'll Try Something New" (their follow-up to "Sukyaki"), followed by the Jones Girls, "Dance Turned into a Romance" and some Sister Sledge song that was new to me.

OMG! New Edition, "Popcorn Love". I have this LP on vinyl.  Bobby Brown at age 14 -- if only we'd known.
