It's prog rock, dude!

A sure sign: Before I knew the Drive was going to 1971, I was humming B.J. Thomas's "Rock & Roll Lullaby" to myself.  Wonder if Bob has that in his repetoire.

More to the point of tonight's concert, I wonder if he'd ever play something from Kantner & Slick's "Sunfighter."

As a tangent, I owe several snaps to Geoff for posting the Chet Helms party info, which allowed me to do this preview for tonight's show:

http://villagevoice.com/nycguide/ev75506,6.html

 Jefferson Starship
B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
237 W 42nd St
New York, NY 10036
Times Square
Phone: (212) 997-4144
www.bbkingblues.com

The never-ending aircraft of Paul Kantner, Marty Balin, and backing crew is joined for this “Galactic Reunion” date by vocalist-keyboardist-bassist David Freiberg. Freiberg sang the hell out of Quicksilver’s “Pride of Man” at a recent Chet Helms tribute in SF, so expect that and some Robert Hunter gems. VIP ticketholders schmooze with the band at 6pm.

Price Info: $35

HM to J. Geils, their version was a lot more fun than Bobby Wo's.

And why would you put all the tea in China in a bag?  Wouldn't it just seep out?

Yay!  Got in early on a Thursday & it's not in vain!

but that's what the honey's for... to sweeten all that tea. I guess. Now if Bob'd follow this with Helen Reddy's cover of "Crazy Love"...

VHM to Dennis Coffey, "Scorpio."  Very clever, Bob!

ETA: I've never heard the follow-up, "Taurus."  A soundalike?

HM3 to this Zep song that might be "Misty Mountain Hop" but I'm not sure.  It's one of the few LZ songs that I'll stop what I'm doing to listen to.  Was that an electric piano playing the riff to kick off the song?

Oh my yes. As I think we've discussed before, the album was 12 instrumentals all named after signs of the Zodiac.  "A very important album in it's time."
