How will we close out November? Last week was unusual in that we got TWO '70s sets (can't remember the last time that happened) and thanks to the Wednesday screw-up we actually had THREE '70s sets in the marathon (!).
So today is presumably a '90s day.
ETA: Yup. '91. Dire Straits, "The Bug" to start. Would love to hear the Mary Chapin Carpenter version some morning.
-
TANC: Just jumped over from WTF, where whoever's on now (not DM) was playing "Industrial Disease."
-
Petty in the #2 slot. "Kings Highway" -- one of his that's not painfully overexposed, so VHM.
-
Petty "King's Highway"
-
"Be Thankful For What You Got" covered by... Massive Attack. Nice, and a possible BOS.
-
Was the clip from Fried Green Tomatoes?

Was the clip from Fried Green Tomatoes?
I think so -- been 24 years since I saw FGT. I remember it was a Morey fave in '91 sets.
ETA: mighta been Silence of the Lambs?
-
Alison Moyet "It Won't Be Long". VHM too.
-
Alison Moyet, "It Won't Be Long"
Another rarity, if not bustout, and BOS candidate to boot.
-
Rembrandts with our first real LN/FF. That's just the way AL is, baby.
-
News break (Iraq / Noriega) ---> Rembrandts
-
Huey Lewis wants a couple days off
-
Huey wants a couple days off. He got quite a few, since '91 was pretty much the end of his streak.

This one remains me of latter-day Little Feat. Not in a good way.

another cover: "Right Place, Wrong Time" by BB King and Bonnie Raitt.
Picturing Bonnie giving BB some "brain salad surgery" and I threw up a little.

Maybe she just wanted a crack at Lucille?
-
Nirvana -- but at least it's not "Teen Spirit".

I did not know it meant that (or anything else). Learn something new every day.

I didn't find out until the rise of the internet. But funny how that phrase showed up twice in one year (1973) and nobody knew what it meant.

Star Trek 25th anniv --> "Little Fluffy Clouds"
Sorry but "collage" records like this with endless stuttering samples of dialog are annoying as fuck.
-
SRV with our second LN -- an uber-uber one. Funny, The Peak did 1990 this morning and we got the Vaughan Bros.
-
That was relatively short and not too bad.
-
11/30/15 - Monday! It's 1991
1. Dire Straits - The Bug
2. Tom Petty - Kings Highway
(Movie: Thelma and Louise)
3. Massive Attack - Be Thankful For What You Got
4. Alison Moyet - It Won't Be Long
(News: the Iraq war; Manuel Noriega)
5. The Rembrandts - Just the Way It Is, Baby
6. Huey Lewis & The News - A Couple Days Off
7. Bonnie Raitt and B.B. King - Right Place, Wrong Time
(TV: Nirvana introduction)
8. Nirvana - In Bloom
(News: Star Trek, now twenty-five years old, and its cultural influence)
9. The Orb - Little Fluffy Clouds
(News: Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry dies)
10.Stevie Ray Vaughan - The Sky Is Crying
Nos. 3 and 7 appear to be bust-outs. The latter was a bonus track on two occasions.
Is BOS voting no longer taking place? I cannot recall hearing a solicitation for votes since AL's
return.
