Portishead, All Mine

This could be BOS.

Am I mad for enjoying a late '90's set?

I'll cop to being happy that it isn't Bittersweet Symphony.

Another NTM. And a BOS contender, fo' sho'.

Before I learned here that this was in fact the Verve, it crossed my mind that "Gee, someone copped the string section from Bittersweet Symphony." But I guess they can't be acccused of copping from themselves, can they?

Well, that was sampled from the Stones wasn't it? It all comes down to thievery in the end.

Not at all. 10@10 should be enjoyable for any year, IMHO. As we've discussed, "those in the know" think we will shit in our pants if we hear something that's not AAA from 1987 on. In some cases those in the know are absolutely correct.

Jack again --> Dang, this sounds like Sleater-Kinney or something. Hello Left of the Dial! I'll have to look into this.

Indeed, Sleater-Kinney, Little Babies

Carrie Brownstein of that band is better known for starring in Portlandia.

In complete agreement. Full disclosure: I'm enjoying this set (with only one or two songs I really know) far more than I did yesterday's Wordless Wednesday set, which was made up of good or great songs that I've heard many many times.
Let's get right to it.

This WAS a darn good set. I enjoyed yesterday's set, as well. It's hard to say how the well-worn songs will strike you. Sometimes they do it for you, sometimes not. As I mentioned on yesterday's thread, I don't think Annalisa had much choice but to pick the old faves for Wordless Wednesday.

Yeah, given the constraints, the instrumental sets wind up being less than the sum of their parts. They're almost like a sibling to Acoustic Sunrise (a little goes a long way).
