Great year, but let's hope the site doesn't break down again.

My bad. It turns out the site wasn't broken, I unknowingly left the sign up that said "Maintenance mode!"

There's no way to go wrong in 73. 10am Bring it!
-
nice -- 73's got some good stuff.
see you tomorrow!
-
Gonna have to miss this one -- actual work to do (how dare they!) so I'll catch the replay, assuming it's worth catching up with.
-
I love Bruce, but I gotta admit I prefer Manfred Mann's version. <ducks>

which is a way of saying it's Bruce, and "Blinded By The Light."
stream is way behind.

I like that version a lot too -- it was the first one I heard, by quite a lot. But they're so different, they're practically different songs. Great TOTHK, in any case.

BOS for "Fat Man in the Bathtub". Fantastic song.
-
Pointer Sisters "Yes We Can Can" (or words to that effect!)
-
BOS The Pointer Sistas. Haaaaayyy...yes, we can, can honey!

ditto..
It was a thrill to hear Allen Toussaint (who wrote it) do this at Stern Grove a couple years back. We even got to hear him do a pre-concert talk before the show, which was awesome.
Anyone going to stern Grove this year? http://www.sterngrove.org/home/celebrate75/calendar2012

yay! Arts & Crafts! Love Diamond Girl!
-
Seals and Croft "Diamond Girl" after the cutting a diamond in back of a Mercury commercial!
-
I am loving this set! My goodness.
-
Hall and Oates "She's Gone"
-
pet peeve about this one: The verse where they sing "let the Carbon AND monoxide choke my thoughts away."
I guess the Halls and the Oateses home schooled?
-

Me too. I won't even complain about Hall and Goats. As soulful blue eyes as they get.

incomplete combustion can produce carbon and carbon monoxide!

okey, give them partial credit if they provide an equation!

TOP and "So Very Hard to Go"
BOS
Seconded. I love TOP. Some of the most fun I've had at a concert has been at their shows.
-
Great Brut commercial with Broadway Joe. "If you're not gonna go all the way, why go at all?"
-
Not the peak of '73, but definitely evocative: Ozark Mountain Daredevils
-
Woohoo! I gets a request. I won't spoiler it, ... but we're gonna have some fun with this one.
ETA: Boo, the radio edit, but still nice.

Is it "Give It to Me"? (I certify I'm on the stream and way behind, so I'm just guessing, not spoiling..)
-
J. Geils for Rod.

Yeah, definitely a Rod song!

liked the Ozark Mountain Devils - If You Wanna Get To Heaven. Good harmonica huffing.
J. Geils wants you to give it to them. or him, or give it to Peter Wolf or something. Nice organ break in this one, too.

Oh my, that edit at the end was horrible.

It's over? I feel like I need more.

I've been hearing the even-more-soulful cover version (a #1 R&B single for Tavares in '74) on WDAS a lot lately. Worth seeking out. They have a carbon & monoxide issue too.

Nice timing. Was able to listen to a few tunes this morning before I had to bail to head off to market during She's Gone. So I tune in tonight just in time to catch the last 30 seconds or so of...She's Gone! And thus got to hear the rest of the set. Quite a few nice little nuggets in there--Feats, Seals & Crofts (yes, really), Ozark Mtn Daredevils, and towering over all, Bowie's Cracked Actor. Possibly one of the best efforts we've been given in a good long while. Anyone know if GDunn has archived this one?

Yes! He said he did. Do you have his storehouse URL? I have it somewhere. Will look for it
I also recorded it as a QuickTime movie in case his Mp3 gets lost.

Yes, I've got GD's archive bookmarked. The file is there now, uploaded late last night after I posted that. Am downloading now, thanks!
