Check the RIP thread, Colts coach Tony Dungy will not be with the team in Seattle on Saturday, as his 18-yr old son died early this morning in Tampa.  Very sad.

I have no idea what effect this will have on the game, but it's gotta have some profound effects one way or another.

Contrarily, I expect Dungy will take the week off but the rest of the team will carry on as normal.  Sorry if I'm being callous, but I don't assume anyone on the team has that close a relationship with Jimmy, nor with Tony D to the extent that they would feel connected to his family.  Again, sorry to be callous, but pro athletes often lose loved ones before games and simply keep silent about it because they feel their job demands it.  Billy Bean, the only "out" alumni MLB player, played the day after his partner died.

It will affect individuals profoundly, but not the game.

Mark, I think you're the last one yet to post picks.  Reminder: Early deadline, as there are games tomorrow (Saturday).

I'm too far behind this year to mount a comeback, so I'll content myself with the potential leftfield upset prediction.

Understood.  Nevertheless, taking the Browns over my Stillers?   That's a tough one to forgive.

And we can't believe you're finally betting against N'awlins.

Just had my first-of-the-season dose of Cheech'n'Chong's "Santa Claus & His Old Lady" on KPIG.

Totally off-topic, but there are a few of the evergreen Xmas tunes that I haven't heard this year (partially due to the lack of the Xmas card set), the Cheech and Chong bit being just one. Only heard the tag end of the Waitresses Christmas Wrapping on KFOG just prior to a 10@10 earlier in the week. And I can't recall if I've heard Greg Lake's Father Christmas either.

On the other hand, I've been completely deluged by "The Man With The Bag." Is it just me, or did that song come completely out of nowhere? I don't recall EVER hearing it before a couple years ago, and now it's on 24-7--was it in a Gap commercial or something?

(Apologies for the OT post, but this is the Stream of Consciousness forum, after all... ;) )
Let's get right to it.

Where else have you heard it besides on the "Xmas in Frisko" stream?  That's the only place I've heard it -- of course, thanks to them, I've also heard more of the Partridge Family Christmas Card in the past week than I had in the previous 30 years!

Somebody (Ginger? Rob?) played the Greg Lake this week, but I've been getting most of my Xmas music from KPIG this year.

And just to keep this post on topic: JEEZ! ya can't even count on the 'Niners to lose when you want 'em to...

No shit. Quite a nice win for them tho. Exciting at the very end. While I didn't pick them, They're still my home team so a win is good.

While we're talking sports, last night at the Sharks game, I saw a shootout for the first time. Last season a tie game just ended. Now we had OT and when that was still tied 1-1, there was a shootout. Sharks lost but it was great. Only one fight :(

Yeah, I bet against the Niners too, but glad they won.  I haven't counted yet, but this week looks pretty bad for my picks.

My picks for this week sure sucked today, 6 for 13.
Nice work POC, lone wolfed DAL and SF and won. Msharys CLE and HOU solo picks did not pan out. He's alone on the Jets, yet to play.

I should get some credit for the WASH-ARIZ-KC trifecta though, nobody else got more than one of those 3.  I really wanted to pick BAL put couldn't force myself & I regretted the NYJ pick as soon as I made it.  HOU played tough for 3 qtrs, but my new friends in CLE who assured me that they'd give the Stillers a tough time are NOT getting anything from me for Christmas.
