They've got this hour long music pre-show on right now -- Kickoff to the season, or whatever.  The Stones just did that new song KFOG's been playing.  Jesus, Mick is old!  The line, "I used to be a rooster now I'm one of your cocks" (or however it goes) was cut.  Mick still sang it, but there was silence when he sang "cocks".  Good editing.  No vocal malfunction.

"What it Was.... Was Football"

I don't know how I managed to live to be 50 without ever hearing this famous comedy classic -- Andy Griffith before he was well-known, doing a monologue about a hick who stumbles upon his first football game.  The amazing KPIG played it this afternoon.  Here's a link to a tribute page that includes Real Audio of the bit in case you've never heard it:

I grew up listening to that.  My dad had a comedy compilation LP that also included Stan Freeberg's "John & Marcia" & Mel Brooks & Carl Reiner's "2000 Year Old Man".  And some hysterical send up of a down home preacher whose sermon text was Little Bo Peep.

I remember it well too. Long, LONG ago, KGO had a Saturday morning show that played comedy records for a couple of hours, and my dad and I would listen to it. Newhart, Mort Sahl, Smothers Bros, Tom Lehrer, Flanders & Swann, early Cosby bits, and everything Mark just mentioned too. I can't recall who did the Little Bo Peep thing, but I'm sure it was in there
Let's get right to it.

Geoff-7
Let's get right to it.

Or doesn't work. I suppose it will get straightened out sooner or later, but right now I get a DB error message when I try to view the scoreboard.
