I'll be in a meeting from 9-to-11 and I haven't heard any clues today. So carry on!

As I've said before, a set of '70s "Jesus Rock" would be a swell idea for tomorrow (Good Friday) but I'm not holding my breath.  And Monday -- something for April Fool's?

ETA:  Used my superpowers to update the year.  -- Rod

A Jesus freak set is a great idea indeed. It would have been a possibility when AL was steering the boat, but now, I can't imagine they'd do anything that creative.  The April Fool set for Monday is almost a given, particularly since we haven't had a theme set in how long?

ETA: Last theme set was Valentines' Day, with Mardi Gras two days before that.

Jesus rock is an inspired idea.  I'll make that suggestion on the FB.

FYI: Renee visited 1999 once before, way back on November 13th.

Here's what we got then:

Quote
November 13, 2012 - TUESDAY!!! We take a stroll back to...   1999

1. Foo Fighters – Learn to Fly
2. Stone Temple Pilots – Sour Girl
3. Moby – Porcelain
4. Pearl Jam – Last Kiss
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers – Scar Tissue
6. Baz Luhrmann – Everybody’s Free (to Wear Sunscreen)
7. Santana – Put Your Lights On
8. Guster – Barrel of a Gun
9. Sugar Ray – Every Morning
10. Counting Crows – Mrs. Potter’s Lullaby

Harrumph. About a push, I'd say. At least we weren't subjected to that Baz Luhrmann non-song.
Let's get right to it.

1. Third Eye Blind - Never Let You Go
(News: Columbine. Guns don't kill people. The NRA does)
2. Creed - Arms Wide Open
3. Aimee Man - Save Me
4. Incubus - Drive
5. Smash Mouth - All Star
6. Santana - Love Of My Life
(Commercial - Remington is the best for getting rid of your scraggly-ass mangy hippie beard; Welcome to McNugget mania, fatty)
7. Ziggy Marley - Beautiful Day
8. Tom Waits - Hold On
(Ally McBeal something, something, something. I don't care)
9. Tal Bachman - She's So High
10. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication

My good/necessary ra(n)tings:

1. B+/C-
2. B+/B
3. C-/D-
4. B+/F- (due to being the poster child for 2011 alt. stations stuck circa 2001...and for being in the wrong year)
5. B+/C+
6. B/B-
7. C/C
8. B/B
9. F/B
10. D/D

Pretty well-roundedly blah.

Indeed, today's set could be described as a prototypical Renee effort:

Two downright awful selections: 2, 5
Three Songs being played in the wrong year: 2, 4, 10
Decent if unremarkable Alice-ish hits: 1, 4, 9, 10
KFOG staple of the day: 6, 7
Snoozy rarity: 8

Commercial which failed to add anything to the set: McNuggets

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Huh    wha...  what?  I'm sorry, I must have dozed off there.  Was there a 10@10 today?

1999 saw the release of one my favorite works of recent times... Cibo Matto's "Stereo Type A."
Not that I ever expect to hear any of that on 10@10...

Can you feel the love for Renee?  ;)

A dart-throwing monkey would be able to pick a more interesting set

Here's my dart-throwing attempt at something approaching listenable for 1999:

 1. Beck - Sexx Laws
 2. Luscious Jackson - Ladyfingers
 3. Fountains Of Wayne - Troubled Times
 4. Beth Orton - Stolen Cars
 5. The White Stripes - One More Cup Of Coffee (Bob Dylan cover)
 6. Cibo Matto - Moonchild (a nod to dischead)
 7. Tom Jones and The Cardigans - Burning Down The House
 8. Bree Sharp - America
 9. Mike Viola and the Candy Butchers - Falling Into Place
10. Fiona Apple - Fast As You Can

1, 2, 4, 7, and 10 all reached my personal chart.

Loved hearing the FoW track in a 10@10. Utopia Parkway is my fave album of theirs, and this is one of the standout tracks, imo. KFOG played them back in the day, but I'm not sure if they've ever placed a cut in a 10@10. Maybe Radiation Vibe?

NTM: 8 & 9. Digging Lyle & Kevin doing Seger quite a bit though. (When will Lyle Lovett ever do another album that's anywhere close to Joshua Judges Ruth?)

Best Segue of Set:  Pokemon > Cibo Matto.

BOS: White Stripes & FoW.  VHM: Beth Orton, Beck, Lyle & Keb
Let's get right to it.

"Stacy's Mom" appeared in one of AL's few 2003 excursions in Sept of 2011. and when she did her "10@10 for Tots: a Kid's Xmas" set in Dec of 2009, she played FoW's "I Want an Alien For Xmas" as the post-set bonus track.   Talk about your golden age of radio!

"America" is the other single (i.e. not "David Duchovny") from Bree Sharp's debut album, A Cheap And Evil Girl.  The Seger cover is from the Mumford soundtrack.

BTW, I'll have the 1965 set reposted sometime this evening.
