The Allmans ramble. VHM and proxy of Geoff to a fairly obvious TOTHK.

Last visit to 1973 (Feb. 15):

Really? Barely over a month since we last visited an early 70s year that most of us would agree has the potential to be pretty good? Could DC be coming around to our way of thinking?

(I have noticed the number of plays for each set on KFOG's Soundcloud player has been significantly higher for the 60s and 70s years than for more recent ones. Hopefully that is not lost on DC et al.)
Let's get right to it.

Oy: WOS EJ on his B-Day.  "Bennie" is my least-fave Elton song.

I like it, and it's so mondegreen-rich, it's a real memory jogger. I don't think I had a quarter of the words right when I'd sing along to it.

Elton trying to create his own imaginary glam star a la Ziggy? Always wondered what this song would have sounded like without the reverb and all the fake audience sound effects.

Fortunately you don't have to. It's an amazing production, more than it's a good song.
