TOTHC the Foo Fighters "Learn to Fly."  True story, I was just thinking last night how awesome this song was to me back in 99/00.

It was my personal #1 when 1999 became 2000.

Anybody recognize that clip?

ETA: I'm thinking it was Freaks and Geeks, which was an awesome show.

Oh, nice!  It was my #1 also for five weeks in 2000 and #2 for the year.  I'm kind of Foo'd out but I guess I'll BOS it.

The STP's with their most tolerable effort get a HM.

Not fond of the sample in this Moby song.

I'm not even listening but I'll second that. A godawful song that did not need to be covered, "ironically" or otherwise.

It sure does generate a lot hate... no, it's by no means a great, or even average PJ tune, but by no means do I feel it's as awful as indicated here.

Biggest possible LN for Everlast and Santana. Nothing good about this.

I'll give a BOS for Guster. A fine band.

even within the category of Teenage Death Songs ("Teen Angel", "Tell Laura I Love Her" etc)  it is considered to be one of the worst, and its recurring chart appearances over the course of nearly 40 years just compound the horror.

I know Counting Crows are unnecessary pretty much all the time, but I like "Mrs. Potter's Lullaby".

November 13, 2012 - TUESDAY!!! We take a stroll back to...   1999

1. Foo Fighters – Learn to Fly
2. Stone Temple Pilots – Sour Girl
3. Moby – Porcelain
4. Pearl Jam – Last Kiss
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers – Scar Tissue
6. Baz Luhrmann – Everybody’s Free (to Wear Sunscreen)
7. Santana – Put Your Lights On
8. Guster – Barrel of a Gun
9. Sugar Ray – Every Morning
10. Counting Crows – Mrs. Potter’s Lullaby

Good/Necessary:
1. A/C-
2. A-/B-
3. A-/C-
4. B-/D-
5. F/F
6. D+/B+
7. F/C
8. C/C+
9. D/B (Because I don't think I've heard this one in awhile)
10. A/B

Hmm...this pretty much was 1999 to me, though as usual I wish they had more than just hits/AAA crossover mainstays.  3 #1's on my chart (1, 4, 10), and what's quite possibly the 2nd worst song of all time (5). I don't disagree that the PJ remake is awfully unnecessary/unnecessarily awful, but it cracks me up and is good compared to everything else they've released in my opinion.

Sorry,  but that looks absolutely hellish to me, and even tho' '99 has only been visited a handful of times in the last 3 years, nearly everything there seems LN to me, as 3/4 are KFOG playlist staples. The Baz Luhrman belongs  in a June "dads 'n' grads" set and nowhere else.  Yeesh & Sheesh.
