I really don't watch live TV enough to see many commercials, but last night there was one that had Smashing Pumpkins "Today" playing over images of people doing fun stuff, and then Morgan Freeman's voice came on & asked if you ever wanted to do all this fun stuff, and I'm thinking, "Okay, they pulled out the big guns, but what is the product?"...after 45 seconds of this it finally reveals itself to be a Visa commercial.

The great Freeman is voicing a whole series of these Visa spots -- the one I saw last nite featured Rick James' "Super Freak". People get funky with Visa, or something.

Somebody tell Beej!  Sir Mix-A-Lot is doing a Burger King commercial -- BK is giving away SpongeBob toys and there's a customized "Baby Got Back": "ah like square butts and ah cannot lie!"

MJ owns the Lennon/McCartney catalog, I believe; I assumed John solo was a different deal, hence my Yoko comment.

Yoko's become increasingly willing to license his work if it's for something she supports/thinks John would have supported.  "Imagine" appeared a few months ago in a laptop ad - that indirectly supported "one laptop per child," or somesuch?  I forget ...

one outta two ain't bad: "Let Your Love Flow" is being used to flog Toyota's Prius (sorta makes sense) but a baseball-themed Pepsi spot uses a pretty awful rap version of Dylan's "Forever Young". Yeesh.

I agree, but if they quit showing his work, most of these "amazing miracle product" companies would be dead in the water as far as TV ads. He did tons of 'em, and probably got paid a lot for his efforts, so they are reluctant to accede to a little thing like common decency just because he's dead.
