weren't we just wondering the other day "whatever happened to Tasmin Archer?", well the CG website has new music samples from a bunch of artists, and she's one:

KFOG just played a song from the "local scene" CD by the Bittersweets. Interesting lyrical snippet: "it's been a long time since I swallowed."

WTF?

Yeah, I can't find the full lyrics online, but that line makes me smirk every time too.  Great sounding band though.  http://www.thebittersweets.com/

I think we'll try to catch their free Borders in-store at Santana Row next month.

Just bought the new Starsailor, On the Outside, solely on the basis of their past two records and the first track on the new one, "In the Crossfire."  Among all the '00s Britrock groups that get lumped together, Starsailor's easily my favorite.

Also bought a 2001 Tears for Fears greatest-hits comp, a long overdue activity for me, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it had the 1986 version of "Mothers Talk" that they re-recorded for U.S. comsumption.  Hadn't heard that version since it charted.  Lovely.

Also enjoyed, but did not buy, Under the Influence of Giants, who sound like a poppier Maroon 5, with peppy horns to boot!  Bit of Fastball in their sound too, I suppose.  Check out their song "Ah Ha" if you get a chance if this sounds at all appealing.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

I can't get over seeing a group use that name.  I kinda feel it ought to be retired, like a sports jersey, in honor of Tim Buckley.
Don't stand in the way of LOVE!

Mark will be pleased to see that the ubiquitous Scarlett Jo (what isn't she in?) is in the video for the new Dylan tune, "When the Deal Goes Down":

ok, well it's not new, but TANC.
i awoke this morning to an email promoting a tony perkins album. i didn't even know ANtHony was ever a singer, much less that he released a couple of albums. i was reading through some bios, landed on one of his wife, berry berenson, and discovered that was aboard a 9-11 plane.

Tony Perkins or Elvis Perkins? Elvis is Tony's son, opened for World Party at the Music Hall last month. Only caught his last 2 or 3 songs--he was OK, not awe-inspiring.
Let's get right to it.

New Releases Thurs: Sam Moore & Broooce, from Moore's new me-and-my-superstar-friends CD. "Better to have and not need than need and not have".

They also played John Mayer covering Hendrix. Yeah, he can play gee-tar, but his white-boy voice is just wrong wrong wrong for "Axis: Bold As Love".

Crazy Logical Mashup
« Reply #283 on: September 14, 2006, 08:49:01 AM »
Sick of Crazy like I am?  Dave says he's not.

Well, maybe this will help:

It's Supertramp's "Logical Song" mashed up with Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" with Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me" and The Who's "Go To the Mirror Boy" thrown in for good measure.

http://artyfufkin.com/?p=30

Really amazing, and then somebody went and made a video mashup too!

http://artyfufkin.com/?p=44

Fun stuff...

Very nicely done; I think I like the "Crazy"/"Steady As She Goes" mash-up better, tho'.
