new/old:  per Brad Kava in this Merc piece, those from-the-basement Bill Graham concert tapes that were sold last year are on-line (link to the music is in the article).

Bahaha!  I was just posting the same news, from a different source, in the Capital Gold / Other Internet Radio thread!

digging some Jimi right now, just heard "White Rabbit" from pre-JA Great Society.  This is awesome.  I'm looking forward to hearing some stuff I saw.  I see several tunes in rotation that I was at (Cream, Chambers Bros, etc.)

Oh. My. GOD.  This Willie Nelson thing is f--ing brilliant.  Here's hoping it ends up in regular KFOG rotation (tho' considering Fogheads' aversion to country music, that's a longshot, probably).  But major, major props to Mr Benson for giving it a spin.

A guy named Ned Sublett is the songwriter.

And KFOG is doing a major "salute to New Orleans" starting Fri afternoon and leading up to Tuesday (Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday).

Yeah, that Willie tune rules. Apparently, he recorded it awhile back.

Alas, I can't listen to the show today- meeting. Have fun, everybody!

Somebody at KFOG needs to check their calendar then. Fat Tuesday isn't for another week--Feb 28. But I'd be cool with a 10-day-long tribute to New Orleans music.
Let's get right to it.

My bad -- he probably said "next Friday".

Interesting analysis on Slate of the Barry Manilow standards album (and others of it's ilk):

more new/old: as if Leo Sayer's comeback weren't bizarre enough, Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" has been rereleased in the UK (lead singer Pete Burns is on the current "Celebrity Big Brother" over there) and it's up to #5 in the charts.

KFOG's playing Matisyahu's "King Without a Crown" before the replay!  Whee!  Is this in regular rotation?  I'm really impressed by it, and would be even more so if I were 21, drunk and in college during Senior Week.

A while back there was a thread about the wolfgangs vault but there was no music streaming then.
Right now I'm hearing the Pusher from Winterland 8/27/67. Cool.

Great sound. JT Country Road now from Berkeley Community 5/29/70. Sweet guitar

It seems like a limited list, but almost everything I've heard has been pretty significant.  It's been great hearing stuff from shows I was at back then.

Heard Willie tune this morning about 8. Amazed me that he wrote it a while back. 20 years or so? I've always liked Willie. Only time I've seen him live was at a Bridge Benefit.
