2NG's retro-chart is from Sept 1968 today. Some interesting obscurities along with the obvious hits like (yes) "Hey Jude". TWO versions of "Dream a Little Dream of Me"!
OMFG: 2 cuts from
Ogden's Nut Gone Flake in one morning! Small Faces "Universal" is NTM, as is the Equals' "Laurel & Hardy". Ray Charles' superb cover of "Eleanor Rigby" is an early BOS.
Elvis' "Your Time Hasn't Come Yet" is NTM and sounds like something Bobby Vinton would reject as too cutesy/schmaltzy.
OMGWTF: a group called Grapefruit covering the 4 Seasons' "C'mon Marianne" rather slavishly.
somebody call Geoff: F.Mac, "Need Your Love So Bad".
ooo! proxy of Gaz, 4 Tops' "Yesterday's Dreams".
holee crap: early Vanity Fare, covering the Sunray's 1965 US hit "I Live For the Sun" -- had no idea this existed.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LT7wQ2Kr46EBOS2 Kinks, "Days", one for the memorial service mixtape.
BOS3 The Nice/Keith Emerson doing an instrumental take on "America" (the
West Side Story song, not the S&G tune).
And it's back2back instrumentals with Mason Williams making an appearance.
ooo! Stay-tus Quo's delightful "Ice in the Sun" which shamefully flopped on this side of the pond.
BOS4 Otis, "Hard to Handle" -- Black Crowes, eat yo' hearts out.
Nothing that really cries out to me in the 2nd half of this chart so I'll subject myself to 1992 on KFOG.
