Haven't worked out an articulation of that yet.  They just don't sound good to me.

Neither does "I'm a Believer" anymore, fwiw.

But HM to "Secret Asian Man": Johnny Rivers' originals are infinitely better than his covers.  It's been 25 years since I last heard "Slow Dancin' (Swayin' to the Music)," I'm compelled to note.

The original version by the Funky Kings (sung and written by Jack Tempchin) is one of my all-time favorites.  KSAN was real big on Funky Kings.  I never saw it released on CD.

I'm talking about where they start saying "dancing in DE streets". it sounds very affected. either they're trying to sound black or trying to sound like '50s beat-hipsters, hard to tell. It's always seemed pretty ridiculous to me -- I've always liked their body of work but they're incredibly white, and that bit just underscores it.

Against my better judgement, I'll throw in my two bits.  I think this track is all about fun.  I never thought they were trying to sound black.  The whole goof at the end should underscore the joyful silliness of it all.
