Together again: Barry Bonds and Jeff Kent will be at China Basin on April 11 as part of the Giants' 10-year ballpark anniversary.  Not sure if Bonds knows Kent will be there or vice versa.  Regardless, they'll be two of 16 players from the division-winning 2000 team the Giants anticipate showing for a pregame wingding.  The list: Rich Aurilia, Marvin Benard, Bonds, Ellis Burks, Felipe Crespo, Bobby Estalella, Shawn Estes, Aaron Fultz, Mark Gardner, Kent, Ramon Martinez, Bill Mueller, Robb Nen, Armando Rios, Kirk Rueter and J.T. Snow.
Looking closely at the list: Benard, Estalella, Rios, all part of the BALCO scandal with Bonds.  Should be interesting.

Any of those guys still active? I think Fultz was last season, not sure if he still is or not.

Estes has not retired, but as the Nationals released him this spring, he appears to be done.  (He spent last year in the minors.)

Hot Rumor of the Day: Donovan McNabb on the trading block and the Raiders are interested.;

http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2010/03/24/raiders-eyeing-mcnabb-give-al-davis-credit-he-makes-some-other-bay-area-execs-look-tiny/

Is he (McNabb) that foolish?

Depends on how unloved he feels in Philly, I suppose. He'd certainly be an instant hero here if he came and "rescued" the Silver & Black. And Al Davis can't live forever... can he?

Well, the drama is over: McNabb traded to the Washington Redskins.

McNabb says he'd retire if he was traded to the Raiders. So I guess he wasn't that foolish.

Bwahaha!  BTW, check out "Zennie62"'s preposterous "Philly got Vick last year so they wouldn't be called racist when they traded McNabb this year" blog post on SFGate. Seriously, that guy is an hilariously bad writer.

left work at 5:15 yesterday and the Giants game was still going on.  Ride my bike down to the Park and managed to get to the right field "free view" fence just in time to see Aaron Rowand's game winning infield single. So I have my own personal highlight reel from that.

I didn't know the outcome, so I tuned into the replay last nite when it was tied in the ninth. I was like, "jeez, how long WAS this game?"  Ladies & gentlemen... your undefeated San Francisco Giants!

Just tuned in the FOX MLB Game of the Week (Yanks/Rays) and Tim McCarver was ranting about people who complain that baseball is too slow -- "Baseball should be played at a languishing pace" sez Tim.  LANGUISHING?? -- er, maybe he meant "languid"? WTF?

During the lengthy rain delay yesterday, they played all the interviews that were done with the year 2000 Giants who showed up for the festivities this week.  I somehow missed Barry B (boo hoo) but it was nice to see Shawn Estes (looking mighty fine, Gaz) and his old, er, "friend" Bill Mueller. And Robb Nen, easily one of the hottest men ever.  And Rich Aurelia too!

2 things I didn't know until this week:  Bobby Crosby is now a Pittsburgh Pirate and Eric Byrnes is a Seattle Mariner.

The Brewers just pounded the Pirates 20-0. When you pound a Pirate, does that make him a butt pirate?

(repost from today's 10@10 thread, just in case anyone looks here first)

Tomorrow's the day my old HS friend who wrote the Willie Mays biography is doing the booksigning at the Borders by AT&T park at 5:30.  Any of you city dwelling Giants fans interested in meeting up?  I won't be able to attend the game, but would show up if anyone else is interested.

(He's doing another on Sat in the East Bay, so I will certainly meet him there myself, but it wouldn't take much arm-twisting to get me to BART in on Friday)

Zito gets his 4th consecutive win -- he pitched 8 innings tonite! -- and it's only April. The best April he's ever had, in fact.  He must be smoking some of Lincecum's stash.
