The Cards battled back to win Game 2 and even-up their NLCS with the Mets. Nice work.

Would that the sad-looking A's had shown half as much moxie today, but they lost again, now one game away from elimination. How can you sweep the Twins -- including 2 games at the Metrodome -- and then just roll over and go to sleep?  Baffling.

At least the Sharks won tonite -- and one of the goals was scored by new Shark Mike Grier, who is the only African-American Shark. He may be the first-ever black Shark, but I'm not sure.

Funny stat that everyone knows now: In nearly 300 career at bats, Cardinals pitcher Jeff Suppan has now hit precisely 2 career home runs, and they're both off Steve Trachsel.

Tachsel is otherwise famous in St. Louis for being the pitcher of record when Mark McGwire hit his 62nd in 1997.

Poor A's.  But now the Cardinals are only two wins away from getting a chance at revenge for the '68 world series.  Should that happen, how much you want to bet Dave plays that Tigers "Yay", Cardinals "Boo" soundbite?

Been having that same thought for the last couple of days. I'll bet we hear it regardless of who the Tigers end up playing--Mets or Redbirds.
Let's get right to it.

How 'bout those Mets tonite? It was 5-3 NY and I flipped over to football for what seemed like 10 minutes and when I came back to baseball it was 11-3!  (it's now 12-5 in the 7th)

I didn't even hear about this until today, but FOX fired Steve Lyons (who was doing the ALCS with Lou Piniella) for allegedly racist remarks:

Jeez, unless the Bears stage a comeback, poc will get the Psychic of the Week award for picking Arizona (it's 23-10 with 7 mins left). Damn.

meanwhile, Cards/Mets rained out yet again.

And to top it off, I arrived home to discover someone had stolen the lovely pumpkin I put at our front door last week.  Scumbags!
