If you love Ted Knight and novelty songs of the late 60s-early 70s- you MUST go here:

Ted Knight sings "Chickaboom".

Are ya a Yankee or a confederate?

http://www.alphadictionary.com/articles/yankeetest.html?sc_id=

I got 29% Yankee, which it says is very strong Yankee influence.

All I can say to that is: GO SOX!!
Let's get right to it.

43% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category.

I thought the best part was "Featuring Music By Tower of Power!"

(but I wonder how many people got the joke.)

I scored similar to Geoff: 41% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category.

Weirdly, my responses were all over the map (literally), owing to my frequent moves as well as my conscious disavowal of certain Western PA trademarks (i.e., "yinz" as the plural of "you").  Had I retained the speech patterns of my upbringing, my score would have been:
15% (Yankee). Wow.  Your Yankee score is in the top 20 percentile!

Jesus:

Lived with mom 'til he was 30
Had "daddy issues"
Never married
Could whip up a meal for big crowd just like that
Carpenter (just a butch way of saying he designed furniture)
Hung around with a hooker (they're big fag hags, y'know) and 12 hunky men.

BTW Mark, you might find this piece from Slate on Shanghai kinda interesting:

http://www.slate.com/id/2116258/

Coincidentally, I recently discovered a little hole-in-the-wall joint in the Sunset district called the Shanghai Dumpling Shop. They make authentic Shanghai dumplings (the round ones with broth inside) and other Shanghai-centric stuff like eel chow mein.  Quite the find. It's out near the Balboa theater and is my new fave place.

Yep, I've eaten there and it rules.

But I feel compelled to point out: Balboa=Richmond.

Irving (and everything south thereof)=Sunset

I thought south of Noriega was the Parkside, but according to some, Parkside is just a subset of Sunset.  But the ZIP codes are different; I live in 94116, which the PO calls the Parkside.

Sorry, didn't mean to give your 'hood short shrift. That's one of those things I've never been entirely clear on either. The map you posted shows all the major 'hoods with the possible exception of the Western Addition, which appears to get lumped in with the Haight. But Laurel Heights gets mentioned, and I just consider that a sub-'hood of Pacific Heights, kind of like West Portal and the Sunset/Parkside, or Glen Park and whatever larger district it's part of. Go figure.
Let's get right to it.
