Funny Stuff on the Internet

From time to time we all come across wacky stuff on the 'net that we want to share.

Found this animated gif while trolling around at FameTracker. It concerns a telephone conversation between 2 celebrity friends...

Paris Calls Lindsey

European VW commercials RULE! Always tasteless.

(they have one where a cat's head gets cut off by an automatic sunroof. You don't actually see the decapitation but they artfully imply it).

I posted the link over at Fametracker's Johnny Carson topic but only one person's commented on it so far. They were a little shocked.

ETA: Ah, a few more comments are being posted over there. There's some serious denile about the whole thing going on at the moment.

Johnny Carson and Race
« Reply #6 on: February 01, 2005, 03:21:06 PM »
Boy, this is going to be a weird year for me at school.  I've only attended one class so far, but it looks like I'll have my hands full of learning how clueless I am because I'm white, and trying to make things relevant to kids via hiphop.  Dig the title of one on the books I had to buy today:

"We Can't Teach What We Don't Know: White Teachers, Multiracial Schools"

I'm an old-school MLK-style integrationist, and I don't think I'm going to enjoy what seems to be a focus on what divides us instead of what unites us.

As far as the Carson thing is concerned, the first one with Rickles is pretty silly, unless he really does say "hang him," in which case, I have no idea what the hell he's talking about.

The second one is clearly a cynical take on two-faced politicians, so it doesn't bother me at all.  I don't even think it should be called blackface, since it's only half a face.

More to come as this week develops.

Geoff, did you ever see "Boycott", the HBO flick about MLK and the Montgomery bus boycott?   It's been showing off & on this month (made in 2001).  Jeffrey Wright (he played the drag queen nurse in "Angels in America") plays young Martin, and does an amazing job.

Completely silly and pointless, except that it made me grin uncontrollably. Which may be the point after all.

The facial expressions of the main subject alone are worth the three minutes it will take to watch it.
