full disclosure - I'm posting this based on the heading alone.

The Virtual Cow Butt

it's even possible that 'full disclosure' is an unintended pun.

Damn, too late for me to suggest it for TIME's upcoming "50 Best Inventions of the Year" issue.

news to me: November has been re-christened "Mo-vember" -- its some sort of fund-raiser for men's health awareness, you're supposed to grow a moustache this month (WTF?) and "mo-vember" is a mash-up of "moustache" and "November":

http://us.movember.com/

er... rather an unfortunate word, no? For us 'mos, every month is 'mo-vember...

(in tribute, Bob Shannon is featuring artists with 'staches on his WLNG show today.)

From the Onion:

1999 Collaboration Between Carlos Santana, Rob Thomas Somehow Standing Test Of Time

LOS ANGELES—Sources reported Monday that "Smooth," the 1999 collaborative effort of guitarist Carlos Santana and singer-songwriter Rob Thomas, has somehow persevered against all odds and continued to receive regular radio airplay this week. "While the projections of most experts suggested 'Smooth' would fade from the national consciousness within its first year, the song has actually proved surprisingly resilient over time," noted musicologist Sidney Brown said of the No. 1 single's inexplicable staying power. "Though it seems not to have any musical or cultural relevance whatsoever, many people, myself included, find themselves humming the track's guitar lick at least once every other week." At press time, the triple-platinum, Latin-tinged rock record was heard emanating from an estimated 780,022 open car windows and 2,300 department store sound systems.

It's well-known that I'm NOT a Family Guy fan and think Seth McFarlane is the luckiest mediocrity to ever walk the earth. (Did ya see his "special" Sunday nite? Yeesh)  CollegeHumor.com has summed-up the McFarlane oeuvre brilliantly in this bit, posted on HuffPo:

Family Guy is great b/c you can turn it on at any point for two minutes and get a laugh -- or a semi-laugh.  And that's all I can take usually.

Everything old is new again*.  For those of you who did not watch Stewart and Colbert last night (or aren't planning on watching the repeats tonight), two takes on the same news story (towards the end of each segment):

http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/256452/november-19-2009/tip-wag---u-s--speedskating-team--ny-lottery---william-phillips

*  I remember when I was in elementary school, refusing to recite the pledge was all the rage.  Anti-war, or seperation of church and state, etc...  And now it's back.  Good for the kid...

I don't think I've seen the movie, at least no more than snippets.  But it's quite traditional in my new son-in-law's family.

it's on the favorite Holdiay movie list!  A couple of cute comments on that article, including

"I thought this would be a "Coming of Age" story in the Castro..."

just in case I missed it, can you provide the link to the list again?

My favorite line: after Ralphie tells us "Only I didn't say 'Fudge'.  I said THE word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the "F-dash-dash-dash" word! ...  Now, I had heard that word at least ten times a day from my old man. He worked in profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay. It was his True Medium; He was a Master."
