One of those Dilberts where Scott Adams puts the whole joke in the last frame.

"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

Here's a truly awful '60s artifact: one of the Beatles cartoons that ABC showed back then -- the otherwise very talented Paul Frees (voice of Cap'n Crunch and many others) doing the Worst. British. Accent. Evah! and sounding nothing like John Lennon (whose voice was actually pretty easy to imitate).

I loved these cartoons when I first saw them.  Then again, I was 4.

And yeah, Mr. Frees renders JL somewhere around the midpoint of Dorothy Zbornack and Mr. Heat-Miser.

Apologies to all, especially Yessongs, for this will undoubtedly be a most scarring experience.  But "OMGWTFLOL" barely scratches the surface:

Wow.

Dreadful choreography, and yet I kinda liked the vocal arrangement.  Not really all that far from Polyphonic Spree territory.

Finally got a chance to watch part of this--yep, the voice of Lennon is a pretty bad likeness. And yes, Frees did lots of the voicing for Jay Ward's classic toons--like I think he was Boris Badanov to name one.
Let's get right to it.

Remember that X-mas TV-special trivia package I put together a few years ago?  He was Boris, he was the BMMB, and he also voiced Santa in Frosty the Snowman (in which June Foray - aka Rocky the Flying Squirrel - was the voice of Karen the little girl).  He was the narrator of many, many things, my favorite being Stan Freberg Modest Presents: The United States of America, but also parts of Patton & Spartacus.  His was the original voice of the Pillsbury Doughboy.  He was injured on D-Day in Normandy & lived in Tiburon his last years.

I think he did a lot of the voiceovers for the Disneyland rides that were rolled out in the mid-60s, specifically the Haunted House and Pirates of the Caribbean.
