RIP Hazel Dickens, 75

The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass fixture has died after a months-long illness. Warren Hellman must be bereft.

Let's get right to it.

Her style was a little tough for a lot of the HSBG fans to appreciate, but she was Warren's fave and it was his party, so she was invited year after year. I'm sure some will be glad she's no longer onstage, but it won't be the same event without her.

hell, even if you didn't like her style, you have to appreciate what she did, where she came from, and her place in the history of that music.  She was very important certainly one of the reason Warren created HSBG.   She always had a prime place on the Main Stage, along with the other classic acts, like Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, Ralph Stanley and of course, Emmylou Harris, who will always get the closing headliner spot as long as Warren Hellman lives and breathes.

... I wonder if Emmylou ever said "yes" ..  :)

What do you mean about her style being tough? I thought she was fab (when I saw her at HSBG).
