Here's a tough Beatlemania trivia question with an improbable but cool answer:

Beatlemania crested in April of '64 when the Beatles held the top 5 spots on Billboard in the midst of having three consecutive #1 singles covering 14 charts from 2/1/64 until 5/2/64*.  What song knocked them out of the top spot on 5/9/64?

*yes, I do have my Whitburn in hand   :)
"Don't Sleep in the Subway".

more improbable than that. the equivalent of, say, Smokey Robinson releasing a single that knocks Lady Gaga out of the top spot (best comparison I could come up with on short notice).

If memory serves, it was "Hello, Dolly!"

Which version?  Pearl Bailey? Louis Armstrong? Carol Channing?

VHM Dr Kildare.

I've always thought that character name was a poor choice.  Doctor KILL-Dare?

Crap, I am gonna be bummed to miss this one. Got an appointment in Portland shortly after 11, so looks like I'll miss this, at least on the first go-round. Crossing fingers I can catch the replay.

(Is this the oldest year for which AL has done an entire set? I know she went back to '60 for a VT or two. Props to her for keeping up the quality as much as she has as she nears her 1-year anniversary in the drivers' seat.)

Almost made it. I was out in the garage tossing past-date chevre and realized it was five after 10. Made it in time to catch most of the Beach Boys; bummed that I missed Chuck though.
Let's get right to it.

Bookended by Berry. Nice.

11 songs and still a helluva short set. Love those early/mid-60s forays.
Let's get right to it.

she was trying to tie it in with the Ed Sullivan "they'll be back later in the show" clip.
