Club Nouveau's forgotten *other* hit, "Why You Treat Me So Bad?", which i surely haven't heard since 1987.

TANC: here's the orig "Denise", ooby doo, by Randy & the Rainbows. Blondie's cover is superior, IMHO.

Tonight, Barry Scott plays a demo of "Gone at Last" by Paul Simon and ... Bette Midler.  Turns out the Divine One's label hedged their Bette and wouldn't OK the release, so Paul recorded it with Phoebe Snow instead.

damn, sorry I missed that -- I think I mention it every time "Gone At Last" shows up on a 10@10.  I'd hoped that version was in somebody's vault, nice to know it exists.

I was gonna make a crack about "2 Jews doing a gospel number" being the reason the Midler version was shelved, but Snow's real last name is Laub, so maybe not.  And when I went to Wiki to look up Snow, I found this, which I don't remember hearing about:

Quote
Phoebe Snow suffered a brain hemorrhage on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 and has undergone life-saving emergency surgery. She is hospitalized in an undisclosed medical center

Wow.
