WOS2 Bryan Adams, speaking of annoying voices.

He's had some horrid moments, but I don't think "Cuts Like a Knife" is one of them.

I'll give a least necessary of set to Sarah McLachlan for "Possession".  I'm sure she could have found a less-overplayed song.  How about "Ice Cream", for instance?

While I still love "Possession" after all these years, I would have chose "Sweet Surrender".

Regardless of what one thinks of Bryan Adams, he probably falls into the 'quinessential' category. Of course by that logic we'd hear Corey Hart and Nickelback as well.

I know "One Week" has been destroyed by the radio, but it makes me very happy after those previous 3 tunes.

Oddly, KFOG ignored "One Week" when it was a hit, tho' Alice 97.3 played it to death. (KFOG went with the Beatlesque "It's All Been Done" instead.)

I missed it, but "No Time" would have been my BOS.  I requested BTO's "Rock is my Life, This is my Song."  Didn't happen.

k.d. lang's rendition of "Hallelujah" for the Olympics made the Hot 100 this week - only her second charter there!  I could see us getting that, if AL grabbed a copy.

(Saving for another day the question of whether the world needs another "Hallelujah.")

easily the most over-covered song of the past decade. (Even Leonard Cohen thinks so!)  But you don't really want to hear it, do you?

You can thank the late Jeff Buckley for that. It's on his Grace album, which was well received prior to his death, but lauded as a classic after as it was his last fully completed work.

So between Tinka and I, we named 10 of the 11 artists today, and Mike was first in with the one we didn't: Rush.
Let's get right to it.

It's the "other" version from the same album we don't often hear (but someone played it recently and one of us commented on that very fact)  BOS2
I see.  I really hated it.  The whole band sounds like they're overdriving their amps beyond all recognition.

That's 'cause they were. Neil wanted his fans to come out of his Rust shows saying, "MY GOD, that Neil Young show was the loudest thing I've ever heard!"

Overall BOS for the Joni, probably because that's my all-time fave song of hers. Just love the lyrics and the phrasing and everything about it.

Btw, fully seven songs in today's set are not previously in the DB:  Joni, Neil, Rush, Sarah M., Arcade Fire, Bryan Adams, and BNLs.

Let's get right to it.

it's pretty much all aboot playing that "all aboot Canada" clip into the ground!

who said Arcade Fire was a longshot?

OMG! "Blame Canada"  BOS4 Mrs Broflofsky!

A little editorializing from AL: "Blame Canada" ("Everything's gone wrong, since Canada came along") into the Bryan Adams song.
Let's get right to it.
