22 Feb 2010: "a late-'70s year" (1977)
« on: February 22, 2010, 07:20:49 AM »
or so said AL on the promo. We've done '78 and '79 within the last month... '77 anyone?

ETA: Bob did '77 today; if AL comes up with a rarity as good as he did (the Outlaws' "Hurry Sundown") I'll be pleased.

Welcome to the Working Week, indeed! instant BOS1 Elvis the C.

Love that AL has a real grasp on '70s Brit New Wave/Punk. BOS2 the Jam, In The City.

Not quite New Wave, but you can see it from here. BOS3, T'in Lizzy's Dancin' In The Moonlight--not to be confused with King Harvest's song of the same name from a few years previous.

Not a bustout, but we haven't heard this on 10@10 since '06.

ETA: Nice "hot summer night" segue into Two Out of Three Ain't Bad You Took The Words Right Out of My Mouth.

OMFWTFLOL! uber-BOS4 Mr Loaf's fabulous "(Hot Summer Night) You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth" -- I bet AL says that to ALL the boyz.

nice to hear this in '77, when it was actually released (and a NY radio smash) -- it took the rest of America until early '78 to catch up.

Yeppers! Mr. Loaf has only one appearance in a year-based set--and that was for Two Out of Three in a '78 set. His other three appearances are for Paradise... in various Valentine's theme sets. This one's a bustout, both for the song, and as an artist in '77.

BOS4 Kinks, Juke Box Music. Nice.

"artists Dave ignored" would make a great theme set. the Loaf, Carole King, Tina Turner...

Now here's a bustout for ya. Again, a song Dave never played in a year that this band was also never played.

Uber BOS--the late Mr. DeVille--but I'm blankin' on whether this is Spanish Stroll or Venus of Avenue D?

I've never heard this Lou Reed song before (I assume it's Lou).
