I'll quibble with MLK here: God is completely disinterested in the freedom of the human race.  It's been out of God's hands for a long, long time now.

Dave's angle was a bit more pessimistic - "this is the struggle we are engaged in."  Annalisa's is more optimisitc - "this is the struggle we've overcome."  Not surprising that I throw my lot in with the pessimists.
