this is such a non-KFOG set.

as are most of her Live-105-ish '90s excursions. Speaks volumes about the wussiness of the Triple-A format.

Uuuhhhh, the iPod was introduced in, what, 2001?

There were plenty of MP3 players in '01, but I don't recall iPods appearing before mid-decade.

Appearance of Arcade Fire may be biggest surprise of set.  I was in Montreal at the time of Katrina, and their "Neighborhoods" song was in their version of the Billboard Top 10, alongside Black Eyed Peas, etc.  Was odd to hear on the radio in that context since they're a fringe act here.

This is a band I confess to having a kneejerk reaction to--they were too hip too fast, and I just said "pass."
Let's get right to it.

I've never liked Arcade Fire, and this song isn't an exception, though I haven't heard it before.  I just don't dig the dude's whine.

We have to hear "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley at some point, no?

Good call, Mike!  Another BOS for this - my personal song of the decade.  "I just knew too much ..."

Per ipodhistory.com, it was intro'd in October of 2001. It took a while to reach critical mass, but I remember seeing 'em on the street in the spring of 2002.

And kudos to Mike for the crystal ball action. VHM Gnarls B.

it didn't take off until much later though.  I remember going to the very first live and local at the Winchester on Friday the 13th of June, 2003 & when Renee gave one away to the attnedees she had to explain what it was & clearly I was one of only 3 or 4 there who had already heard of it.  The first ones used MusicMatch, it wasn't until Apple rolled out the iTunes store that it really went places.

True, but there are a # of legitimate Triple A songs I can think of this decade that would have been good choices.  Life On a Chain, When You're Falling, Camera One, Destiny, Ghost, Cannonball, The Little Things, & others.

As for her 90s sets being Live 105 ish that's true also but when did AAA officially become a format of its own?  If I recall most Alt. stations in the 90s were very similar to Triple A now.  I mean even Jewel was an alternative staple back then.

This weekend I heard "Keep the Car Running."  It wasn't on the side show either.

BOS3 Crazy!

WOS2 to KT Turnstile.  She has better.  (Though at least this isn't "Black Horse & the Cherry Tree.")

First "happy" song of set - KT Tunstall, who KFOG got me hip to a year before "Cherry Tree" became a smash.
