A sublime bit of soul, 'Retha's take on "I Say A Little Prayer"--Dionne's version is great, but this one does it for me. BOSwhatever.
Let's get right to it.

I've said this before, but I can't think of another artist who did so many covers -- often within a year or so of the original -- and made them her own.

BOS5 Beatles (yay), one of my fave ballads evah.

The Isley Bros. are the only ones who come close.

BOS3 and proxy of gaz in perpetuity, the fantabulous "Elenore"

Agree fully, although I have heard Howard and/or Mark claim that this is just Happy Together turned sideways.

The song was used well (if asynchronously) in Pirate Radio.  Yes, "Elenore" was their self-acknowledged smartass way of writing "another Happy Together" to keep the label happy.  But it's a marvy song no matter its motivations.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”
