Both excellent calls--I agree completely.

Will have to submit Paul Simon's Graceland, as well. As overplayed as several of its songs have become, it completely captivated my listening in 86-87.
Let's get right to it.

(Or did he hear it on 95.7 MAX?)

Listened to the Max onthe drive home last night.  Impressive And-Now-For-Something-Completely-Different set list.

Pearl Jam - [unsure of the title]
Beatles - "Birthday"
Corey Hart - "Sunglasses At Night"
[long, very long commercial break]
Blues Traveler - "Run Around"
War - "Why Can't We Be Friends?"
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes - "If You Don't Know Me By Now"
Duane Allman - "Midnight Rider"

indeed, their commercial sets are f***ing ENDLESS. And they are very hit-n-miss. I listened most of yesterday afternoon and didn't hear anythinga s interesting as the set you posted. Maybe they're better at night -- the other nnight I heard Raydio's "You can't Change That" and John Cafferty's "The Dark Side" back-to-back.

oh, the inevitability of Huey...

I presume it could have been ABB or Gregg Allman; don't think Duane ever did it solo. Great song.

What's this in the #7 slot (post-Huey)? It's not bad but I don't know it ("Baby's eyes are making me ready..."). Sounds vaguely like the Tubes but I think that could be just typical of that era.
Let's get right to it.

Graceland & Speaking in Tongues were in the top 5 when Rolling Stone made a list, which was topped by London Calling.  But Irish Greg already said something about it being released in 1979 (on 12/14), so I wonder if they will exclude it (silly if you ask me).

was "Where's the Beef" still around in '85?  It was the hot catchphrase of 1984... even Mondale used it in the campaign. Which was pretty much the end of it's run, I recall.
